Temporary Art Educator at Kultur Gävleborg

Kultur Gävleborg is the regional culture department of Region Gävleborg. Here, we work within several different art and culture fields. Within visual and applied arts, we strengthen and develop the art sector in the county, and the public art team is responsible for artistic environment design in public spaces, as well as for managing, producing, and bringing the regional art collection to life.

We are now looking for a temporary art educator who wants to contribute to developing encounters between people and art, with a special focus on participation, learning, and accessibility. We welcome your application!

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an art educator, you work both strategically and practically to make art accessible and engaging for various, primarily adult, target groups. You work closely with colleagues within the department and in collaboration with other operations within Region Gävleborg, cultural institutions, municipalities, artists, and other actors. In your role, you participate in various development projects and collaborative initiatives, and you contribute to making Region Gävleborg's art collection accessible.

The workplace is located in Gävle, but the operations are carried out throughout the county. Together, we work towards the goals in the regional culture plan, the regional library plan, and our mission within artistic environment design.

The role includes, among other things:

• developing and implementing art educational activities and programs
• working with pedagogical perspectives within public art and the regional art collection
• planning and conducting tours, workshops, and discussions
• contributing to co-creation processes and networks within the art field
• producing educational material and texts related to artworks and exhibitions for staff and the general public
• monitoring the art educational field and participating in relevant networks
• working continuously with social media, newsletters, and "Art of the Month".

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have a strong interest in contemporary art, contemporary issues, and learning processes. You are curious, self-initiative, and have good collaboration skills and an ease in creating trusting relationships and engagement among different target groups. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

In the role of art educator, you have

• art educational, artistic, or art historical education at university level, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent
• experience in art educational work with public art
• experience working in collaboration with different actors and target groups
• good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
• good administrative skills
• experience working with digital tools and social media
• Class B driver's license.

For this position, it is meritorious if you have experience with co-creation and participant-based methods, and experience working within the public sector. It is also meritorious if you have knowledge of art processes in construction projects, and knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English.

Since the position may involve contact with children and young people, we require a certificate of no criminal record (extract from the Police's criminal record register) prior to employment.

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
