Description

As a teacher, you will work in a teaching team that takes a holistic view of student relationships and learning. Our goal is for all students to develop based on their individual prerequisites. In your role at Friskolan Nytorp, you will teach tractor driving, agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as the subject of Nature and Agriculture (Naturbruk). You will contribute in an inspiring way to provide young people interested in agriculture with a fundamental and reality-based education.

Friskolan Nytorp is located in Arbrå, situated in the Ljusnan valley, which offers a varied landscape and rich wildlife.

Nytorp School has existed since 1946 and is characterized by a safe, family-like atmosphere. We are a small, happy group working closely with students to ensure accessibility, participation, and goal achievement. The school offers two upper secondary programs: Nature and Agriculture (focus on farming and nature tourism), and Construction and Civil Engineering (focus on land and infrastructure).

We see the school as having an important societal function in addition to its general knowledge mission: educating young people for jobs in sustainable farming and vibrant rural life, or meeting the increasing demand for skilled machine operators in the construction industry.

The school is in constant development and full of hope for the future. Because the school is small, you as an employee have significant influence to make the school an attractive workplace and a good educational alternative for today's youth. The job offers close relationships with both students and colleagues. Currently, there are 100 students at the school, and our goal is to increase this number to 120.

The school farm currently comprises 70 hectares of arable land, 16 dairy cows, 25 ewes, and some small animals. Practical teaching in milk and pig production takes place at the school's partner farms.

Job Description

You will teach and instruct students in tractor driving, service, and machine maintenance. The role includes planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching. You are part of a work team in the agricultural education program and work in close collaboration with all staff to meet the knowledge requirements of the education. We value broad knowledge in the applicant to ensure flexibility in the role.

This is a vacation cover position (seminar/summer job), and irregular working hours may occur, such as evenings and weekends during high season.

Qualifications

• Teaching certification (Lärarlegitimation).
• Professional experience in machine operation within agriculture.
• Post-secondary education in agriculture is an advantage.

We look for someone who has good rapport with young people and is a good role model both personally and professionally. You must be able to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

As a person, we want you to be proactive, collaborative, structured, and skilled at problem-solving. Finally, you should have a positive pedagogical and safety-oriented approach.

Probationary employment may apply. The position starts in August, or as agreed.
