Polhemsskolan is Gävle's largest upper secondary school with approximately 1,600 students. The school offers 10 national programs, including one preparatory program, nine vocational programs, and an adapted upper secondary school. Polhemsskolan has well-developed work teams and extensive quality work aimed at increasing student goal achievement.

Job Description

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Gävle Municipality is looking for you to work in our adapted upper secondary school, an important operation where we together create safety, development, and hope for the future. We are now seeking teacher assistants who want to contribute with engagement, structure, and a warm approach.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Working on behalf of the school leadership and under the instruction of teachers.
• Being part of the pedagogical context and primarily supporting the teacher in the classroom to ensure teaching functions as well as possible.
• Helping to create a safe and stable environment in the school as a whole for the students.
• Supporting several students in the classroom and being present in the school environment to create a safe and stable school atmosphere.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A completed upper secondary education.
• Knowledge of and experience with working with digital tools.
• The ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
• Experience working in adapted primary or upper secondary schools.

The following are considered meritorious for the position:

• Experience and knowledge of low-affective interaction (calm and structured interaction).
• Previous experience working with the target group of neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD) and individual development plans (IDP).
