In the spring of 2017, Falu Municipality, together with other employers in and outside Dalarna, initiated a collaboration with Dalarna University with the aim of increasing the number of qualified teachers in our schools. Based on a carefully conducted inventory, we decided to offer a unique opportunity for motivated students to obtain a teaching degree by combining studies and work with salary. Our initiative has proven to be well-received. Before the start of last year's term, we had far more applicants than available positions, which is a good reason to continue with this unique initiative. We are already seeing the results in our schools, as the reinforcement in the classrooms is immediate, and our students experience the combination of work and studies as a winning strategy.

Terms and Benefits:

• The salary is at least 18,900 SEK/month.
• You can apply for study grants from CSN (the Swedish Board of Student Finance).
• You are tied to a teaching position in Falu Municipality throughout the entire study period.
• The teaching contract is renewed once a year, provided that the interest is mutual.
• The employment consists of 50% teaching at the school and 75% study pace for the primary teacher program.
• After completing your studies, you can apply for teacher certification.

Job Responsibilities

Teaching Aspirant

If you want to become a teacher, you now have a unique opportunity to combine your studies with work thanks to our work-integrated program, and be employed as a teaching aspirant. By studying and working simultaneously, you can finance your teacher education without needing to take loans. You also receive a unique education, which, thanks to the combination of theory and practical work, gives you an enviable head start. The program is aimed at those who work or wish to work as teachers in grades 4–6 of primary school. The education prepares you to teach Swedish, mathematics, and English, as well as Natural Sciences and Technology or Social Sciences. The study pace is 75% and comprises 240 higher education credits. The study location is Campus Falun. Work in the school: 50%. During the entire study period, you have a parallel teaching employment in Falu Municipality under the guidance of experienced teachers, where you teach students in grades 4–6.

Qualifications

Personal qualities and experience:

We are looking for you who handle challenges in a positive and solution-focused manner. Your good ability to work individually as well as in a group is crucial for success in the role. You possess leadership skills deemed suitable for the role of a teacher and have the ability to reflect on your own learning and teaching style. You have good communication skills both verbally and in writing. Finally, we place great emphasis on experience working as an unqualified teacher, substitute teacher, or in another role within the school.

How to Apply:

1. Apply to Dalarna University, Primary Teacher Program grades 4–6. Applications are accepted between February 15 and March 16, 2026. Selection is based on upper secondary school grades or results from the higher education entrance test. Apply via antagning.se. Admission decisions in April 2026. The education starts in the autumn of 2026, week 36.
2. Apply for the position to Falu Municipality now, but no later than April 24. The employment begins on August 10, 2026.

To be employed, you must present an extract from the criminal record register, which will be requested if employment becomes relevant.
