Stockholm – our capital city filled with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone who lives here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and different with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
Hästhagsskolan is a newly renovated grades F-9 school with approximately 700 students, located in Farsta, in direct proximity to the city center, public transport, and green areas.
Our Special Needs School (AGR) is now in its sixth year. By autumn 2026, we expect to have approximately 40 students in grades F-9 within our Special Needs School.
We collaborate closely with other schools in Farsta to ensure equal education in a safe environment. Our goal is for our school to be the natural and best choice for all children and young people living in our immediate area, as well as the best school for the students who attend here.
What we offer
We are looking for an engaged, experienced, and positive teaching assistant to join our fantastic student and staff team. Here, you will have the opportunity to help shape and develop our operations to become the best for our students. Everything we do is student-centered and based on the student's needs.
Lunch is pedagogical as you eat it together with the students, which means the meal is free for you. Stockholm City also offers an annual amount for wellness/fitness.
Your role
We are looking for someone with documented experience working in a Special Needs School (AGR) and who is passionate about this type of work.
For us, it is natural to work together in teams, sharing experiences and knowledge. Our AGR is growing (with capacity for approximately 45 students), so we are looking for someone who enjoys being proactive and involved in shaping content, as well as creating routines and structures.
You are expected to be well-versed in adapting learning environments and materials based on the student's needs and prerequisites. You should have experience working with students who follow standard subjects as well as students in various subject areas.
Here, you are expected to be accustomed to meeting students with challenging behavior, being goal-oriented, and persistent. You must have a belief that everyone can succeed with the right conditions.
You should be able to work from a low-affective approach, have a great deal of patience, and possess the ability to notice the student's small developmental steps (progress). You should be a calm and secure person who can work independently and one-on-one with students for parts of the day.
The main responsibility for teaching lies with the teachers in the AGR, but for our students to succeed and become the best they can be, it is crucial that all employees work together and contribute to the whole based on their competence and role.
Your skills and experience
- You must have documented experience working in a Special Needs School.
- You must have many years of experience working as a teaching assistant.
- It is meritorious if you have a teaching assistant education or equivalent training.
- It is meritorious if you know PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and/or sign language.
Stockholm City works with competence-based recruitment aimed at assessing each individual's skills and thereby combating discrimination.
