SiS Youth Home Ryds Brunn receives school-aged boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse.

Job Description

The students at Ryds Brunn are between 12 and 16 years old, but the teaching is based on the students' current knowledge level. Teaching takes place in small groups and is adapted to individuals as much as possible.

You are responsible for pedagogical development work, which includes teaching and mentoring students & teachers, as well as mentoring 2-4 students.

In line with the school health service's mission, you participate in planning, developing, and following up on work with the learning environment in the school and a dynamic student health plan in collaboration with the school staff.

You are confident in the task of providing special educational support to teachers individually and in groups. This applies to both individual students and competence development regarding methodology, strategies, working methods, and learning environment for the target group based on specific needs and various diagnoses.

You assist the principal in leading and developing the work of organizing inclusive teaching for small teaching groups and individual students from a special educational perspective, with the goal that students have the opportunity to succeed in school within society.

Additionally, this includes necessary documentation, cooperation with other staff at Ryds Brunn and other institutions and external stakeholders, as well as development work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a qualified special needs teacher, with subject competence for lower secondary school. Meritorious is experience working as a special needs teacher from lower secondary or primary school, preferably with students with complex difficulties. We also want you to have a school leadership education or other leadership training.

  • It is important that you have good communication skills, are clear, and are open to finding solutions in your mentoring/leadership role that are based on the young person's needs.
  • You enjoy taking initiative, being proactive, independent, and solution-focused while actively participating in collaboration within the work team and cooperating with other professions at the youth home.
  • You are experienced in conducting assessments for individual students prior to action plans and/or further investigations of specific difficulties such as dyslexia, language disorders, etc.

To handle the work with young people with psychosocial problems and criminality, it is important that you can identify and meet the student's needs with high realistic expectations and motivate and lead the student towards their goals. You have a humanistic perspective and can see the whole person behind the problems, can build professional working relationships, can set and maintain boundaries in a respectful way, and have faith that all students can find a path to education and work.

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position Monday - Friday and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.
