Your responsibilities

We are looking for student assistants for Slottsjordsskolan Norr (adapted primary school) and Kärlekens adapted primary school in Halmstad.

As a student assistant in the adapted primary school, you work both during school hours and at the leisure center to support students based on their individual needs, prerequisites, and development.

The students have an intellectual disability but may also have other functional variations. You work together with teachers, resource pedagogues, and other student assistants, both in groups and individually with the students. You support, help, and assist our students in the activities throughout the entire school day and at the leisure center. You plan, develop, and carry out the students' training and education together.

You will work with the students in various situations, e.g., communication training, work with digital tools, physical training which includes swimming with the students, leisure activities in all school subjects, as well as assisting the student in daily life based on individual needs. The work requires a clear structure, independence, and the ability to work with and adapt education in different ways.

Your qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed student assistant education, such as a high school diploma from the Child and Youth Care program, or other education and/or experience that the employer deems suitable. Meritorious is if you have experience of pedagogical work in adapted primary school. We place great emphasis on you feeling called to meet students with calmness even in sometimes tough situations, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability for the job.

• Have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities (ID), autism, ADHD, or similar functional variations, also in challenging situations.
• Are confident, patient, flexible, and solution-oriented.
• Have good cooperation skills, take initiative, and work responsibly.
• Can support students based on both medical and physical needs.
• Contribute to development, job satisfaction, and positive learning together with students and colleagues.
• Work independently and structured with a low-affective and inclusive approach.
• Have a positive view of students and believe in every student's opportunity to develop and learn.

About the position and workplace

Slottsjordsskolan Norr is an adapted primary school located in central Halmstad with proximity to both forest, sea, and the city's various facilities. The school covers grades 1–9 and is characterized by close cooperation in engaged work teams, where the students' development and goal achievement are in focus.

If you are offered employment within the Child and Youth Administration, you are obliged to show a certificate of no objections from the Police's criminal record for work in school/preschool. The certificate is free of charge and takes about 2-3 weeks for the police to process. Therefore, order it in good time!
