Are you an engaged teacher who loves teaching and would thrive in an international environment?

At IES Halmstad, we are currently looking for a teacher in Social Studies (SO) and Swedish, qualified to teach students in grades 7–9. Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities or students in adapted primary schools is considered an asset.

The position is a permanent full-time (100%) employment starting in August 2026.

The Workplace

IES Halmstad is a popular independent school for students in grades 4–9, with around 600 students and 70 employees. Whether you are new to the profession or have worked for several years, we believe IES Halmstad could be your next step. For those new to the profession, there is ample support available at the school, both from colleagues and from our Academic Manager, who is happy to assist with planning, follow-up, and structure. For established teachers, the school offers an inspiring international environment where structure and order allow you to spend more of your working time on teaching and learning, and minimal time on disciplinary issues, which we consider a vital part of a pleasant and positive work environment.

We believe in our method, the IES Ethos, which focuses clearly on mastering the English language, study discipline, security, and respect to build a positive school environment that is accommodating and inclusive – and that yields good academic results. You agree with us that a teacher should focus on teaching and developing their profession together with others, while other support structures are in place for everything from student health services, janitorial services, IT support, to collegial collaboration. We follow the Swedish national curriculum with instruction in both Swedish and English.

The Position

We are looking for a certified teacher who will become part of a creative and experienced team where you are responsible for your own lesson planning. We work closely together in our subject teams on subject development and cross-curricular themes.
