The Department of Education and Employment is responsible for employment-promoting measures, integration issues, and education at the upper secondary and post-secondary levels. Adult Education is part of VIA (Adult Education, Integration Unit, and Employment Unit) and is included in the Department of Education and Employment. VIA supports people in the process of reaching their dreams through innovation, forward-thinking, knowledge, and courage.

We are now looking for a new colleague to join us now that we have been granted ESF funds for a project focused on young people aged 16-29 who are neither working nor studying.

Job Responsibilities

The position primarily involves a project appointment within the ESF project. There is also the possibility of an extended assignment through a substitute position within the regular operations of adult education during ongoing parental leave.

Your primary responsibilities within the ESF project include providing individual study and career guidance to participants based on their conditions, interests, and goals. You map out competencies, experiences, and future plans, and provide information on educational pathways, eligibility requirements, and opportunities for study. The work also includes support in application processes for education, planning and conducting workshops on topics such as study techniques and career choices, and collaboration with educational providers, authorities, and other relevant actors. Methods used within the project include BIP, Case Management, Supported Employment, WRI, and I Feel Like I'm Heard.

The substitute position targets all target groups of adult education. In this part of the assignment, you will provide service and guidance via phone and email regarding adult education's educational offerings, application processes, eligibility issues, grade requests, and study planning. The work also includes individual guidance regarding studies and career choices.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a degree from the Study and Career Counseling Program. You have a genuine interest in guiding and supporting people in their study and career choices and thrive in a role where the individual's development is the focus.

The target group consists mainly of young adults who, for various reasons, are far from studies and work. This can, for example, involve mental health issues, disabilities, non-European background, or experiences of exclusion related to HBTQI identity. Therefore, it is important that you have an inclusive and relationship-building approach, as well as the ability to meet people based on their individual needs and conditions.

You work based on the participant's own motivation and readiness for change, using a coaching, exploratory, and empowering approach. You have the ability to create trustful relationships, contribute to realistic and motivating study and career paths, and adapt interventions to the individual's needs. The work takes place in close collaboration with job coaches, leisure coaches, project managers, and other actors, which requires good collaboration skills and flexibility, while you can work independently and structured.

Documentation and reporting in the organization's systems are a natural part of the work. Some evening shifts may occur.

It is meritorious if you have experience working within adult education, employment measures, project operations, or guiding people who are far from studies and work.

Within the substitute position covering the regular operations of adult education, the workload during phone hours can be high at times. This requires that you can quickly search, evaluate, and convey information in a professional and correct manner.
