Home Economics Teacher Grades 6-9
Do you want to work in an international environment with a clear pedagogical policy? For the upcoming school year, we are looking for a qualified teacher in Home Economics and Consumer Studies. We are a school covering grades 4-9, and all teachers at our school must be comfortable teaching in these age groups.
About You
As a person, you are flexible, a dedicated team player with a positive attitude towards your subject. You are creative and willing to go the extra mile for your students and colleagues. You possess the tools to create a good learning environment in the classroom, where your clear leadership and teaching style are key to your students' success.
You can adapt your teaching to reach different students and can, in collaboration with our student health team and special needs pedagogues, work inclusively with students who have special needs. For us, continuous, clear feedback to students and guardians is a must, and you see it as a natural part of your teaching. In this feedback, you provide information on both progress and areas for development and improvement.
We are looking for you who are a certified teacher for grades 6-9 with qualifications in Home Economics and Consumer Studies, and who wants to teach students in an international work environment. You meet the needs of your students and, as a mentor to 16 students, you strive for every student to reach their full potential, regardless of their background. You have a positive view of people, are a team player, and have the ability to build good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English. The working language among colleagues is also both Swedish and English.
About the Job
The job description includes, in addition to common teacher duties such as planning, teaching, grading, and follow-up, mentoring students in one of the classes you teach. You need to be available for meetings with guardians, students, and colleagues, and actively work to uphold IES's values and vision.
At our school, the focus is on learning and a calm environment where school routines and rules are followed by both students and staff. A pleasant atmosphere and a good cooperative climate are the key words behind our success. This is also the foundation for creating a red thread that guides and supports our students through their schooling and helps them reach their goals. Home Economics is taught in half-classes in fully equipped kitchens and subject-specific classrooms.
About the School
International English School Nacka (IESN) is an independent school with 940 students. The school opened in August 2010 and is located in Nacka Strand with good connections to Slussen and central Stockholm. We offer a calm and secure work environment where mutual respect between students and between students and staff permeates the operations. Teachers and students come from all over the world and thereby bring experience, knowledge, and new opportunities to the school.
Employment Terms
The position is a 100% holiday position and permanent after a 6-month probation period. To apply, you need a valid extract from the Swedish Police Authority's record of offenses (belastningsregistret) for work in schools.
Start Date: August 6, 2026
Interviews are conducted continuously during the application period, and the position may be filled before the application period ends. Apply here on IES Careers: https://apply.engelska.se/ (https://apply.engelska.se/)
