Description

Sotenäs Rescue Service consists of two RIB stations (Rescue Personnel on Call), one station in Kungshamn and one in Hunnebostrand, as well as a fire watch on Bohus-Malmön. We are approximately 60 employees and are part of the Western Rescue Region.

We now wish to strengthen our team and are looking for colleagues for our stations in Kungshamn and Hunnebostrand. We are looking for more firefighters who can serve in an on-call group or a pool group.

Job Responsibilities

Working as an on-call firefighter means you help create safety in society. You have another job or are studying, but you are ready to report to the fire station promptly when the pager sounds, so that the rescue vehicle can leave the station within 5 minutes. You are part of an on-call group that is on standby according to a fixed schedule, most commonly every fourth week.

As a group, you solve tasks together and are dispatched to various acute emergencies such as fires, traffic accidents, drownings, and other situations where a rapid response may be decisive.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

To be able to work as a firefighter, the following qualifications are prerequisites:

• Full health, verified by a health examination
• Basic physical fitness, verified by a treadmill test
• Hold at least a Category B driver's license and have access to a personal car
• Are a competent swimmer
• Live and work within 5 minutes of the fire station in Kungshamn
• Have consent from your primary employer to leave the workplace for alarms, exercises, and training

What We Offer

To get a good foundation for working as a firefighter, you will first receive internal training for approximately two to three weeks within the first year. After that, you will attend one of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency's (MSB) rescue service-adapted courses or equivalent training, which lasts six weeks.

You need to be prepared to obtain a Category C driver's license (truck), which is paid for by us. To maintain good skills, you will practice approximately 50–60 hours per year, mostly in the evenings. Salary is paid for on-call duty, exercises, training, and potential alarms.
