About the Workplace

The Rescue Services in Ale and Kungälv municipalities are organized under Bohus Rescue Service Consortium (Bohus Räddningstjänstförbund). Our mission is to ensure safety and security for over 80,000 residents.

We work to prevent accidents, and our scope ranges from traditional firefighting and rescue operations to risk prevention and various community safety initiatives. To support this work, we bring together a wide range of expertise that operates across municipal services as well as directly with citizens and private organizations.

We have approximately 150 employees distributed across four fire stations. Our workforce includes both full-time and part-time firefighters.

We are looking for you who want to be part of developing Bohus Rescue Service Consortium!

As a firefighter with us, you will work across our entire mandate. You will operate both independently and as part of a team, handling various tasks in accident prevention and emergency response. It goes without saying that you are committed to creating a safe and secure environment for the residents of our municipalities.

Your duties will include responding to emergencies, conducting accident prevention and training activities, implementing community safety measures, participating in projects, and collaborating with other organizations and authorities to contribute to the consortium's development.

Qualifications

  • Completed SMO (Swedish Firefighters' Education) or another quality-assured training equivalent to full-time firefighter status (formerly 15 weeks), or other training deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Valid driver's license, class B and C.
  • Approved smoke diving status according to current policy regarding physical requirements for emergency service personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of full-time experience in firefighting/rescue services.
  • LK1 or RLA certification (Incident Command/Heavy Rescue).
  • Driving competence for emergency vehicles and/or aerial platforms.
  • Smoke diving leader or other supervisory role experience.
  • Skills in areas such as boating, UAS (drones), hazardous materials, NUSAR, heavy rescue, or other specialized competencies.

Required Documents to Attach with Application:

  • Certificate of passing the treadmill test for new hires (age-related: 4.5–5.6 km/h at an 8% incline), no older than 6 months.
  • Certificate of passing the Guldbajen swimming test, no older than 1 year.
  • Medical examination certificate according to AFS 2005:6 (arranged by Bohus Rescue Service Consortium). We conduct drug testing upon employment and require a criminal record extract.

The Role

To thrive in this role, you must be able to make well-founded decisions independently based on the organization's values and goals. A broad perspective and a holistic approach to your work are essential. Since daily operations dictate your tasks, flexibility and the ability to switch between different duties and locations are crucial. We value self-reliance, accountability, and clear, trustworthy communication in both written and spoken Swedish/English. You should be motivated to help develop the consortium's operations and work according to BORF's values and cultural framework.

Personal suitability is highly valued.

The practical test day for candidates advancing in the recruitment process will take place on September 23rd.
