The Transport Air Squadron is the squadron that provides tactical transport air with the aircraft Tp84 (C-130 Hercules) both nationally and internationally. Our task is to transport materials and personnel, perform airborne supply, and tactical transport.

The Transport Air Company is now seeking soldiers (GSS/K) as assistant mechanics and ramp service soldiers.

Job Responsibilities

You will work at an aircraft maintenance company where you, together with the squadron's personnel, perform aircraft maintenance service and/or ramp service for transport aircraft. The tasks involve supporting the flight crews in preparing the aircraft for flight and receiving the aircraft when they land. These tasks include performing or assisting the flight crew with:

• Connecting electrical power to the aircraft
• Providing and rigging mission equipment
• Maintaining mission-specific aviation materials
• Refilling consumables in the aircraft
• Filling the aircraft's liquid oxygen
• Loading and unloading cargo in the aircraft
• Basic technical work
• And other support in preparing the aircraft

As an assistant mechanic, the position includes:

• Carrying out aircraft maintenance work on TP84 together with other aviation technical personnel

The job responsibilities also include maintenance of vehicles and materials. Your work also includes maintaining a good physical standard.

As a soldier in the Transport Air Company, you may be required to serve as both a ramp service soldier and an assistant mechanic, depending on the current needs.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Completed GMU, GU, or military service with a passing result
• Driving license B (not automatic)
• Swedish citizen
• Approved after special security clearance/register check
• Approved according to the Armed Forces' physical standard FMFyss
• No restrictions on working in an aircraft maintenance environment, e.g., hypersensitivity or allergy to curing plastics.

MERITORIOUS

• Work with terminal services or logistics services
• Terminal soldier, Logistics soldier, or Assistant mechanic
• Military driving licenses
• Civil driving license C & CE
• Driver training for forklift and wheel loader
• ADR and IATA/HFFG training

• Employment form: Soldier service GSS/K which begins with a 6-month probationary period if you are not already employed within the Armed Forces. The position is limited to 6 years with the possibility of extension for another 6 years.

Skaraborg Air Force Wing is a versatile and unique air wing. Here, there are combat aircraft as well as the Armed Forces' combined resources of transport and special aviation. We conduct basic and position training of conscripted recruits and train all Swedish and foreign Gripen pilots. The unit also participates in many missions. In Sweden, operations are located in Såtenäs, Malmen, Arlanda, and Karlsborg. Abroad, we are responsible for Gripen support in Thailand and for the Swedish personnel in the international transport air cooperation Heavy Airlift Wing in Hungary.
