Challenge Yourself! Become a Clearance Diver

The Navy is now looking for you who are military trained and want to be trained as a clearance diver. A developing profession where you can make a difference for what is important! Can you stay calm in difficult situations and be a humble team player, even in times of crisis? Then clearance diving might be the profession for you.

Recruiting Units:

  • 3rd Naval Combat Flotilla (33rd Mine Clearance Division, Karlskrona)
  • 4th Naval Combat Flotilla (42nd Mine Clearance Division, Haninge)
  • 4th Naval Combat Flotilla (44th Clearance Diver Division, Skredsvik)

Main Responsibilities

Now there is an opportunity to undergo approximately nine months of training that, upon successful completion, leads to a position as a clearance diver within the Armed Forces. Experience in diving is not a requirement; however, you need to be driven to challenge yourself and enjoy pushing your mental and physical limits.

Your primary task as a clearance diver is to create freedom of movement in a marine environment by mapping and clearing ammunition. You will work in a team with other clearance divers and in close collaboration with colleagues within the Armed Forces. Your daily life as a clearance diver may include everything from various training missions to live assignments, as well as providing support to the community, for example, helping the police search for missing persons.

In your daily work, you will practice your diving skills. The demands for physical and mental ability are high, so you will regularly train to manage your heavy equipment safely. The exciting challenge of working as a clearance diver is that you will engage in advanced diving in a variety of environments and situations. You primarily work in Sweden but may also participate in international missions.

The Navy's EOD school trains the Navy's clearance divers who, after graduation, seek employment either on mine clearance vessels in Stockholm or Karlskrona, or with land-based mobile clearance diver groups in Skredsvik. There is a good opportunity to switch between the two career paths.
