31st Ranger Battalion

The 31st Ranger Battalion is a light conventional ranger unit tasked with supporting the Swedish Armed Forces' special forces.

The defining profile of the battalion is primarily the ability to conduct rapid movements and foot combat with carried weapon systems. The battalion is well-trained and has developed methods to solve these tasks together with helicopter and transport aviation units.

The battalion operates in task-adapted combat groups over large areas and often in a different direction than other units, which places high demands on the personnel's physical and mental capabilities. This further imposes significant demands on individual soldier skills as well as the ability to prioritize the mission and the group over personal needs. In addition to soldier skills, good teamwork, initiative, and high stress tolerance are prerequisites for the officer to operate effectively with the group in all situations.

In 2028, the 31st Ranger Battalion has been tasked with contributing to the NATO operation, Forward Land Forces (FLF) Latvia / LNLV (land NATO Latvia).

Main Responsibilities

The officer's role within the battalion can range from high-intensity combat to supply management, maintaining the battalion's command resources, and staff duties. The battalion's units operate independently for shorter periods, which places high demands on understanding the task and initiative at all command levels. All officer positions within the battalion require high physical performance, teamwork, and the willingness to act in the situations encountered.

The operations include an initial training phase in Sweden during 2027, followed by participation in the operation in 2028.

Job Requirements

• Completed and approved military basic training (at least 6 months) (the training must be current)
• Completed and approved officer training
• Passed employment tests at the 31st Ranger Battalion

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous international service
• Previous employment at a ranger unit
• Hazardous goods training
• Driver's license B, manual transmission
• Driver's license C
• Military driver's license (TGB16, LTGV, TGB14/15, TGB17)

Livregementets husarer, K 3, has fast and powerful units and a long experience in the intelligence field. K 3 trains a ranger battalion and an intelligence battalion. The ranger battalion is a unit with high mobility that should be able to be the first on site during an operation. The intelligence battalion delivers intelligence by using advanced technology, personnel on the ground, and unmanned aerial vehicles (RPAS).
