We are looking for part-time soldiers who have completed basic training at K3 and wish to combine their continued engagement in the Armed Forces while working in civilian life.

Are you interested in maintaining your commitment to the Armed Forces after your basic training while doing something completely different in your daily life? As GSS/T, you will serve part-time as a squad leader, soldier, or sailor. This means that you will have a civilian job/studies in your daily life and will serve approximately one to four weeks per year with your combat unit for training, exercises, or missions (longer service may occur during a mission).

About the Unit

31st Ranger Battalion is a light conventional ranger unit tasked with supporting the Armed Forces' special forces.

The defining profile for the battalion is primarily the ability to conduct rapid movements and foot combat with carried weapon systems. The battalion is well-trained and has developed methods to solve these tasks together with helicopter and transport aviation units.

The battalion operates in task-adapted combat groups over large areas and often in a different direction than other units, which places high demands on personnel's physical and mental abilities. This further imposes significant demands on individual soldier skills as well as the ability to prioritize the mission and the group over personal needs. In addition to soldier skills, good teamwork, initiative, and high stress tolerance are prerequisites for the ranger soldier to operate effectively with the group in all situations.

In 2028, the 31st Ranger Battalion has been tasked with contributing to the NATO mission, Forward Land Forces (FLF) Latvia/LNLV (land NATO Latvia).

The part-time positions within the battalion consist of:

• Ranger Support Squadron (command platoon, logistics platoon, reconnaissance platoon, and mortar platoon)
• Ranger Squadrons (ranger platoon and staff & supply platoon)

Job Description

The need to staff and strengthen our combat units is great, and therefore we are now looking for several GSS/T for all squadrons. You may have several tasks such as driver, signaler, sharpshooter, combat medic, or fieldwork soldier. As a part-time ranger soldier/ranger reinforcement soldier, you will be called in for larger exercises, training, or international missions. How much you will serve is determined in a service plan that is sent out at least once a year.

Requirements for the Position

• Completed basic training with conscription at K3 (applicable position for those who discharge in 2026)
• At least JA-2-2 in military grades

Meritorious

• Training in Ak 5, KSP 90, KSP 58, GRG
• B driver's license, manual transmission
• C and/or CE driver's license
• Security guard training

The Life Regiment Hussars, K 3, has fast and powerful units and a long experience in the intelligence field. K 3 trains a ranger battalion and an intelligence battalion. The ranger battalion is a unit with high mobility that should be able to be the first on site during a mission. The intelligence battalion delivers intelligence by using advanced technology, personnel on the ground, and unmanned aerial vehicles (RPAS).
