Do you want to help build the diaconate in a completely new parish? We are now looking for two deacons – one for Tölö parish and one for Älvsåker parish. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the parish-wide diaconal work while having your clear base in the local congregation.

About Kungsbacka Parish

Kungsbacka Parish was formed in January 2026 and includes the congregations of Kungsbacka-Hanhals, Tölö, and Älvsåker, as well as funeral services at six cemeteries. There are approximately 18,000 church members and about 60 employees. The parish offers a rich and varied worship and community life with people who want to share the church's faith and life, providing a good platform for continued development.

As a new parish, we are now creating common structures and ways of working, while each congregation continues its local work. Openness and inclusion are important guiding principles for us, as well as respectful treatment.

About Älvsåker Parish

Älvsåker Parish is located just north of Kungsbacka, about 30 kilometers south of Gothenburg. There are about 2,600 church members and a mix of traditional countryside and newer residential areas. The work team consists of six people who together carry out worship life, music, pedagogy, and diaconate. The atmosphere is close, personal, and down-to-earth – with a clear desire to meet people where they are.

About Tölö Parish

Tölö Parish is a growing part of Kungsbacka municipality, about 30 kilometers south of Gothenburg. Many are moving here, and many young families live in the congregation. There are about 6,500 church members (about 60%) and we are located in a rapidly expanding part of Kungsbacka urban area. Tölö will continue to grow by 3,000 to 5,000 people in the coming years. The congregation has two churches, the old church in Tölö village and Varlakyrkan, which is a modern district church from 1990.

About the Position

When Kungsbacka-Hanhals congregation and Tölö–Älvsåker parish merged into a common parish, the opportunity arose to build a new structure for the diaconal work. In this role, you will be securely anchored in your congregation, but also a key person in the parish's joint diaconal development.

You will shape the assignment together with engaged colleagues. There is room for both well-known and new ways of working – what matters is that the work is carried out with care, responsiveness, and presence. The common goal is to point to the gospel.

The parish has a broad operation with priests, educators, musicians, and other employees who are eager to collaborate. The deacons already work closely together, and the collaboration will deepen further. You will report to the operations manager in your congregation.

This is a role for you who thrive in meeting people, want to work closely with the local community, and want to help build something new together with us.

With us, you will:

• Be responsible for financial support to individuals and hold pastoral conversations.
• Build networks and create contacts with authorities and other organizations.
• Be responsible for community meetings for the unemployed.
• Work with children and family activities together with the priest and educator.
• Be responsible for annual activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues in various operational groups.
• Be an important part of the work to develop volunteer activities in the congregation.

We are looking for you who:

• Are secure, brave, and self-driven.
• Take initiative and feel responsible for your assignment.
• Can work independently but also appreciate the value of collaboration.
• Are unpretentious and enjoy development and change.
• Have order in administration and good structure in your work.

Qualifications

• Ordained deacon in the Church of Sweden.
• Experience from social services or similar is meritorious.
• Driving license B is desirable.
• Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Conditions

• Permanent employment, 100%. A probationary period may be applicable.
• Evening and weekend work may occur.
• Start as soon as possible.
