Support Assistant at 75% for Vidars gränd 12 Short-Term Housing and Supervision

We are Varberg Municipality, the employer that sees the possibilities in you. Here you can make a difference, both for others and for yourself. We are driven by the idea of simplifying people's everyday lives and realizing their dreams. We do this with the help of knowledge, innovative courage, and a forward-thinking spirit. Welcome to contribute to our work towards our vision – to become the creative center of the west coast.

The Social Administration is responsible for providing support, care, and assistance to people at different stages of life. We work based on individual needs and offer services based on several laws, including the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons (LSS), and the Health and Medical Care Act.

This can involve providing the elderly with a safe and meaningful everyday life, supporting people with disabilities, or being there for children, youth, and adults in vulnerable life situations.

With us, you meet each individual with respect and professionalism. We collaborate across professional boundaries – both within our own administration, with other parts of the municipality, and with external actors. To ensure quality and development, we actively work with follow-up, improvement work, and digitization.

Here you make a real difference – every day.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to contribute to ensuring that young people have a fun and meaningful everyday life?

With us, you will meet a team with both experience and a great commitment to children and young people. We are looking for someone who wants to help create safety, joy, and meaningful activities for our youth every day.

Short-term accommodation under LSS (The Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons) offers children and young people with disabilities the opportunity for a change of environment, recreation, and social community while relatives receive relief in their daily lives.

The purpose is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where individuals can develop their independence and have a meaningful leisure time.

Short-term supervision is an intervention under LSS for children and young people over 12 years old who need supervision before and after school when guardians are working.

As a support assistant, you will provide educational, social, and practical support to individuals with functional variations in their daily lives. The goal is to strengthen the individual's independence, quality of life, and participation in society.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability, but it is desirable if you have:

  • Experience working with youth/adults with disabilities
  • Education/experience in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
  • Knowledge and experience in working with structure, planning, motivation, and guidance.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Contribute to maintaining good quality in the operation.
  • Document interventions in digital systems according to applicable routines and establish implementation plans.

You will, together with your colleagues, be responsible for supporting the youth in their daily lives with care, leisure, and activities.

We work to ensure that the youth have the opportunity to be as independent as possible. It requires that you are curious and have the ability to listen to the youth.

Within the area of operation, there is a support pedagogue who provides support and assistance as well as guidance to you as a new employee.

We collaborate with other short-term accommodations, and work at other short-term accommodations/supervision will occur as we work across boundaries.

The work is scheduled for both daytime, evenings, and weekends, as well as sleeping on-call, depending on the needs of the operation.
