Social Worker at the Investigation Unit
Do you want to make a concrete difference for children and young people in vulnerable life situations? Here at the Investigation Unit, you will work closely with children and adolescents involved in crime and/or substance abuse, helping them receive the right interventions at the right time.
In this role, your professional judgment, sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with others truly make a difference – every day.
Your Responsibilities
You will be one of several social workers at the Investigation Unit, led by two unit managers. The unit consists of four workgroups, three of which focus on traditional investigative work. As a social worker in our fourth workgroup, you will be part of an engaged team where different competencies meet and complement each other. The group works with institutional placements (HVB/SiS), network work, and complex investigations – often in situations where creativity, courage, and innovative thinking are needed. You will ensure that children and young people placed receive the right support and that care is safe, legally secure, and meets established goals.
In your daily work, you will primarily:
- Work with children and young people involved in crime and/or substance abuse, alongside their families.
- Contact HVB and SiS homes, follow up on interventions, and ensure that care, support, and treatment needs are met.
- Meet and converse with children, youth, and their families in a respectful and attentive manner.
- Be present where the youth are – which may involve longer travels.
- Document according to BBIC and ensure high quality in investigations and assessments.
- Handle cases related to violence in close relationships.
- Plan and follow up the care chain together with colleagues and external actors, ensuring that decisions are implemented and maintained over time.
The work is varied and sometimes unpredictable – you will thrive here if you appreciate a day-to-day life where flexibility is a prerequisite and where you have the opportunity to be both challenged and developed.
Your Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you need to have:
- A degree in social work
- A valid driver's license (B)
- Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
- Good computer skills
- The ability to take responsibility, make decisions, and work independently in your profession
- The ability to remain calm and professional in pressured and complex situations
We are looking for someone with a clear child perspective who sees children's participation as a natural part of the work. You easily create secure relationships, collaborate closely with colleagues, and build good contacts with external actors.
Personal Competencies according to Assessio Bloom
The competencies central to this role are:
- Networking - You create and nurture relationships that strengthen collaboration around children and youth. You build contact points both internally and externally to ensure that the right interventions can be implemented and that care processes maintain good quality.
