Investigator for the Accessibility Regulations Unit

Do you want to make a real difference? As an investigator with us, you contribute to a more accessible society where products and digital services can be used by more people – on equal terms.

We work with what everyone takes for granted: the ability to communicate. With us, you will ensure that it works now and in the future. For everyone.

The Accessibility Regulations Unit is a newly established part of the authority and is responsible for implementing the EU Accessibility Directive through Swedish legislation. Here, you have the opportunity to be involved from the beginning and influence how supervision and market control processes are designed. Supervision and market control mean that we, as an authority, check that the products and services available on the market meet the requirements of applicable legislation. More information about the law and our supervision and market control can be found at The Law on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services | PTS (https://www.pts.se/en/about-pts/the-law-on-the-accessibility-of-certain-products-and-services/).

My name is Munasar Said Muse, and I will be your manager. I strive to create a workplace where we thrive, have fun, and feel safe. The work in the unit is characterized by commitment, innovation, and solution focus – we utilize our different competencies to find ways forward in complex issues.

It is important to me that you receive meaningful and qualified tasks while also having the opportunity to develop in your professional role. I care about psychological safety, participation, and a culture where innovation and development work are a natural part of everyday life. Here, you will have both the right conditions and support to succeed – and contribute to something that makes a real difference in society.

About the role

As an investigator, you will work with supervision and market control to ensure that products and digital services meet the legal requirements for accessibility. You will review and assess products and services and drive cases from start to finish, together with case handlers.

You will also contribute to developing methods and tools for review and testing. The role involves many points of contact, both internally and externally, and you need to be able to analyze and convey technical review results clearly and pedagogically, tailored to different audiences.

The work includes reviewing digital user interfaces such as websites, apps, and documents, as well as physical and digital product interfaces.

About you

You work in a structured, meticulous manner and take responsibility for driving your work forward independently. At the same time, you enjoy collaborating with others and actively contribute to teams where you collectively develop the work and find solutions.

You have the ability to make complex issues understandable by communicating clearly and pedagogically, and you adapt your communication to different target groups. With a curious and open approach, you contribute new perspectives and ideas that move the organization forward.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant education in areas such as technology, IT, law, or other education combined with work experience that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Current work experience in accessibility issues where you have worked with reviewing digital services or physical products in relation to statutory requirements or standards.
  • Work experience presenting the results of reviews in a pedagogical manner, tailored to the recipient's technical level.
  • Very good communication skills in Swedish and English.

It is also advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in areas such as industrial design, inclusive design, product development and testing, UX design, or similar relevant experience.
  • Very good practical understanding of accessibility requirements for websites, apps, or other digital interfaces and standards such as WCAG and EN 301 549.
  • Knowledge of accessibility requirements for physical products and experience analyzing and evaluating the functions and design of physical products, especially those covered by the law on the accessibility of certain products and services.
  • Experience working with technical tools and methods for reviewing accessibility in websites, apps, or other digital interfaces or documents, as well as experience using or testing assistive technologies, such as screen readers Jaws, Talkback, or Voiceover.
  • Current work experience in supervision and/or market control from the public sector or equivalent in the private sector.
