Communications Department
We are looking for an experienced, driven, and innovative press communicator for Sundbyberg.
With us, you will work on engaging and current societal issues that are constantly influenced by events in our surroundings. We offer a challenging assignment in a dynamic environment characterized by change and community.
The Press and Production Unit is one of three units in the communications department and is responsible for the agency's media management. You will be part of a team of press communicators and a press manager, and we now need to expand with a truly sharp press communicator who has an eye for spotting opportunities to disseminate facts/information when needed.
Main Responsibilities
As a press communicator, you will work with external communication on current issues and provide excellent service to journalists. You will work closely with the agency's spokespersons and management on press matters. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on communication efforts directed at the media. The role includes handling media inquiries, producing and publishing press releases, and overseeing daily media monitoring. The assignment also includes training spokespersons in media management, working with crisis communication, and contributing to the strategic development of the agency's communication.
The main tasks broadly include:
- Planning, developing, and managing the agency's media work
- Creating messages, writing opinion pieces, news articles, and press releases.
- Handling media inquiries and providing excellent service to journalists
- Supporting managers and employees in media management
- Following up and evaluating your own communication efforts
Who are you?
With a focus on planned communication, you should also have a very good ability to quickly adapt assignments and working methods based on circumstances influenced by events in the world and be able to handle the unplanned. You are self-motivated and enjoy creating contacts. You see connections and prioritize the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions. You are curious, take initiative, propose and start activities, and achieve results. You are skilled at understanding and describing complex issues in a correct and simple way, formulating messages, and assessing news value. You have good self-awareness and are confident and stable as a person, even in pressured situations.
You who are applying have:
- A university degree, preferably in information and communication, journalism, or another relevant field
- At least three years of documented and current experience in similar communication work, for example as a press communicator
- Experience in proactive and/or strategic media work.
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written Swedish.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience in building and maintaining relationships with journalists and/or editors.
- Current experience in working with social media
- Experience in practical crisis communication work
- Experience in working with press and media issues within public operations
