Become our new Secretary General in Medicine and Health
Lead the Swedish Research Council's research funding and strategic work in the field forward. With your knowledge and experience, we want you to develop this important research area for Sweden and promote excellence and increased utility of research as well as international collaboration.
Role Description and Responsibilities
As Secretary General, you are scientifically responsible for the field of medicine and health. You are the main presenter at the subject council for medicine and health and are responsible for the follow-up and preparation of matters primarily concerning areas such as research funding, research policy, and international cooperation. The Secretary General also has overall scientific responsibility for the agency's other activities in the area. Together with department heads and other secretaries general, you will be part of the Swedish Research Council's management council, contributing knowledge and advising the agency's management, as well as ensuring that strategies, guidelines, and policies established by the Swedish Research Council's board are followed. The work also includes developing the Swedish Research Council's overall activities and participating in external associations, both in Sweden and internationally.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with high scientific competence in the field of medicine and health and who is an active researcher with experience as a research leader. You should also have an interest in and experience working with strategic research issues. Previous experience in management positions at an agency within the research field is advantageous. Likewise, experience from international work with research funding and strategic research issues is a plus. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. As Secretary General, you need to have good analytical skills and the ability to think and act strategically with a holistic view of the issues at hand. You need to have good communication skills and be able to express yourself well in both speech and writing, in both Swedish and English. The work also requires good collaboration skills.
Location
Our office is located at Hantverkargatan 11 in central Stockholm. If the tasks allow, there is an opportunity to work remotely part-time.
Employment Form and Start Date
The employment is up to 75 percent of full-time for a period of three years. The total employment period is a maximum of six years. The position as Secretary General should be combined with a position as a researcher at a Swedish university. The start date for the position is by agreement.
