Exciting Interim Assignment as a Controller

We are currently assisting our client in the northern suburbs to find a consultant for an exciting interim assignment. Do you want to work closely with the business and be the one who turns numbers into sharp decisions? In this role, you will have a key position with overall responsibility for follow-up, analysis, and budget/forecast — and you will become a natural partner to management in both ongoing business and projects.

About the Position

In this role as a Controller, you will have a clear mission: to support the business through proactive planning, controlling, and analysis — and provide management with the right decision-making basis to achieve strategic goals. You will work closely with department management and play an important role in ensuring that reporting, follow-up, and financial governance maintain high quality. The role also involves contributing to correct risk management related to projects (including commitments) from a financial perspective, and ensuring that the work adheres to applicable policies, guidelines, and values within the organization.

Responsibilities

You will act as a proactive business support and sounding board in ongoing operations as well as in budget and forecasting processes. You will produce and compile analyses and reports that make it easy for management to make well-founded decisions, and you will follow up financial goals monthly — identifying deviations, risks, and opportunities, driving dialogue about actions, and following up on progress. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the budget/forecast (part of the planning process) is implemented in a structured manner within the department, for example by coordinating instructions, managing reviews, conducting analyses, compiling materials, and reporting. Furthermore, you will ensure quality in monthly financial statements, for example regarding project forecasts, accruals, and inventory, and contribute to developing and implementing common working methods. An important part is also to educate and develop the organization in financial routines and understanding — so that more can use finance as an active management tool.

Suitable Background

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education in economics/finance or equivalent, and who has at least 4–6 years of experience as a controller or from accounting (e.g., authorized/certified accounting background) with a desire to grow into a more business-driven role. You have a good understanding of business reporting and analysis, as well as project controlling. You express yourself fluently in English, both spoken and written, and enjoy working independently, structured, and proactively. As a person, you are confident in dialogue with managers and stakeholders, analytical and solution-oriented, and enjoy driving improvements — while also having integrity and precision in financial craftsmanship.
