Intelligence Officer at the Swedish Customs Intelligence Department

The Swedish Customs has the mission to stop or seriously disrupt organized crime and to prevent the illegal importation of narcotics and doping agents, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, and other goods that threaten life, health, and the environment.
The Swedish Customs is creating a new organizational structure to work even more efficiently and flexibly. In the new organization, the operational activities of the Swedish Customs will be divided into four departments: Control, Revenue Collection, Intelligence, and Customs Crime.
The Intelligence Department handles intelligence and risk analysis and must be able to work with intelligence operations in all parts of the Swedish Customs' mission, including both restrictions and revenue collection.
The department is divided into four units with geographical responsibility: South, West, East, and North. The department also includes the Swedish Customs Selection Center (TSC) and the unit for strategic analysis and national desk.
We are now looking for an intelligence officer to work with intelligence gathering for the intelligence unit in Stockholm.
About the Position
The Swedish Customs is seeking intelligence officers with experience in targeted surveillance within law enforcement. Within the Swedish Customs Intelligence Department, intelligence officers primarily perform targeted surveillance against large-scale smuggling and organized crime. The work may also include some initial investigative measures. Staff placed within the surveillance operations are equipped with service weapons, for which training is required. Your work will largely involve working with secret coercive measures.

Are you the one we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who has:
- Basic training in the Swedish Customs law enforcement or equivalent training obtained in another governmental law enforcement agency.
- Completed and approved conflict management training, including communication, self-defense, OC spray, and baton training.
- Completed and approved weapons training.
- Experience from work within the Swedish Customs law enforcement or equivalent experience in another law enforcement agency deemed comparable.
- Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
- Computer skills and the ability to independently use basic computer programs in the Office suite to report, document, and present.
- Swedish driver's license, at least class B. Driving occurs daily in the position, so it is of great importance to be an experienced and skilled driver.
- Swedish citizenship.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Completed and approved surveillance training (basic and/or advanced).
- Completed and approved TNF (Swedish Customs National Driver Training) step 3 or equivalent experience in another law enforcement agency deemed comparable.
- Experience working with intelligence operations within law enforcement.
- Experience working with targeted surveillance within law enforcement.
- Experience working with investigative work within law enforcement.
Personal Qualities
The work requires you to be a stable and secure person with a high level of security awareness. Your ability to collaborate is good, and you should have the ability to read and handle different situations that arise. As an intelligence officer, you will work in a small group, so it is important that you are genuinely interested in working in a team and developing together with other team members. You should also have the ability to work independently. You can handle working under stressful conditions where you need to make quick decisions with good judgment. In the role of intelligence officer, flexibility and initiative are also required, as well as an interest in technical tools.
You should be able to treat people with respect and understanding, have good judgment, and be a good representative of the Swedish Customs both internally and externally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
The operations are diverse, which places high demands on you to be both flexible and prepared to perform both routine tasks and more qualified tasks. The operations are in constant development, and improvement work is part of everyday life.

The work involves shift work.
Probationary employment for 6 months. Permanent employment that begins with a 6-month probationary period and requires completed and approved weapons training during the probationary period. Individual salary setting applies.
Start date: By agreement.
