The Stockholm South Police Area is Sweden's largest police area. Nearly 1 million residents live and work here. The Stockholm South Police Area is divided into eight local police areas: Globen, Farsta, Skärholmen, Nacka, Haninge/Nynäshamn, Huddinge, Botkyrka, and Södertälje. At the police area level, there are investigation sections, serious crime sections, surveillance sections, sections for crimes in close relationships, operational support sections, and investigation journals sections. Furthermore, there is a police area administration.

The local police area of Södertälje is part of the Stockholm South police area and consists of three municipalities: Södertälje, Salem, and Nykvarn. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are now looking for a Community Police Officer with an interest in collaboration and crime prevention development issues.

You will work in the spirit of the local police area manager with a large mandate to carry out assignments and long-term planning together with the municipality and other collaboration partners. The assignment also includes helping to enrich and assess the local situation picture together with other enabling and crime-fighting functions in the group and in the local police area. You will be part of a support/service group with three other community police officers, which also includes youth coordinators, dropout coordinators, and event police.

As a community police officer, your main tasks will be to:

  • Drive the Police Authority's crime prevention and safety-promoting work based on internal and external collaboration
  • Be cohesive in the development of collaboration agreements, citizen promises, and action plans, as well as coordinate the work to be performed
  • Be involved and enrich the local police area's operational planning
  • Work knowledge-based and be able to map, analyze, set goals, develop directions, identify interventions, and follow up on implemented interventions
  • Incorporate citizens' and other actors' perspectives into the Police Authority

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Swedish approved police exam in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1104).
  • Experience of local crime prevention and safety-promoting work.
  • Experience of collaboration with municipalities and local communities.
  • Experience in identifying problems in the local situation picture and translating these into proposals for operational activities.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience from various police assignments within the Police Authority that the employer deems relevant.
  • Experience in strategic police work.
  • Relevant experience in participating in change and development work.
  • Experience representing the police in the media.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest and commitment to crime prevention work. The role of community police officer requires personal maturity and broad police experience that allows you to understand the police's operations from a holistic perspective. To succeed in the role, you need to be driven and enjoy a networking role. You find it easy to create trust-inspiring relationships and thrive in an assignment where you can largely initiate, build, and shape your own work role. Since the work involves many contact points, you also need to be communicative and comfortable speaking in front of a group, but also a good listener who can meet people in different situations. We also see it positively if you are comfortable working in various communication channels/social media. The job may involve rapid changes in pace, so you need to be flexible.

We will place great importance on personal qualities.
