Security Guard at the Swedish Parliament
The Parliament Administration is an authority tasked with facilitating the work of the Parliament. Approximately 700 politically neutral employees work at the Parliament Administration with many different types of tasks.
The Security Department of the Parliament Administration is now looking for a security guard who wants to help protect Swedish democracy – a job that truly matters!
As a security guard at the Swedish Parliament, you are part of the protection of our democracy – but also an ambassador for openness, service, and professionalism in the Swedish state system.
The Swedish Parliament is the heart of our democracy. The Parliament is the workplace for the members of parliament and the employees of the party offices and the Parliament Administration. It is also a place for many meetings and visits. Good security is a prerequisite for an open Parliament. The decision-making process and work in the Parliament must function regardless of what happens, and everyone should feel safe in the Parliament's premises. Openness and security may seem like opposites, but making that combination possible is the daily challenge for our security personnel.
Your Responsibilities
As a security guard with us, you have an important job. The focus is on surveillance, but you also work with access and security checks and at the reception. Together with your colleagues, you handle the situations that arise.
As a security guard, you are an important ambassador for the Parliament and the Parliament Administration. You meet members, employees, visitors, and guests from all over the world – and your approach contributes to the trust in the Parliament's activities. Therefore, the position is characterized by professionalism and a high service mindset, where safety and accessibility always go hand in hand.
In addition to working closely with colleagues in your own department, you also collaborate closely with other departments, units, and professional groups. This may involve jointly planning for visits and events to create smart and smooth solutions for various security issues.
Changes in our environment greatly affect us, and therefore we are constantly working to develop our working methods. This means that you will likely be involved in various projects and working groups where you have the opportunity to contribute with both ideas and engagement.
Your Qualifications
After completing high school, you have gained experience from some form of practical security work – preferably from the security industry, police, armed forces, correctional services, customs, or any other activity we consider relevant. If you also have security guard training, HAS training, or leadership experience, it is an advantage.
It is also advantageous if you have experience as an instructor, for example in healthcare, security checks, weapon handling, conflict management, law, or self-defense.
We are looking for someone who is meticulous and has high integrity. A clear security mindset with a healthy dose of suspicion is another important trait. You have an eye for detail and are vigilant about deviations while having the ability to see things in a larger context.
We expect you to handle stress well and to take a leadership role when the situation requires it.
To fit as a security guard, you need to be resilient and able to maintain high mental sharpness even in low-intensity moments. Additionally, you must be able to quickly adapt to act both swiftly and decisively with continued good judgment when something happens.
You are a pronounced team player and take responsibility for more than just yourself. In your collaboration with others, you are friendly, unpretentious, and solution-oriented, and you actively contribute to a good atmosphere at work.
Moreover, you have a good ability to think independently and can question constructively in a way that contributes to our development both as a team and in the workplace at large.
As communication is one of our most important working tools, it is a strength for you to enjoy communicating and to do so clearly. You are good at both absorbing and conveying information, both verbally and in writing.
The position is classified in a security class and requires Swedish citizenship as well as a successful security clearance. The employment may be subject to military placement. The extent is full-time. Permanent employment with a probationary period applies. Suitability tests are used as part of the selection process.
- Employment type: Permanent employment
- Extent: Full-time
We Offer You
At the Parliament Administration, you will work with stimulating, developing, and socially beneficial tasks close to the core of democracy.
