About the Position

Do you want to gain experience working closely with political decision-making processes in a development-oriented organization? Knivsta Municipality is now seeking a committee secretary for a temporary position of 14 months (from March 16, 2026, to May 17, 2027).

The position is suitable for you who have good administrative skills, enjoy structure and documentation, and want to develop in a role where you work closely with both operations and decision-makers. You do not need to have worked in a municipality before, but you are curious about public operations and can easily immerse yourself in new contexts.

The position is located at the municipal office within the municipal management office. You will be part of a team of municipal and committee secretaries and will collaborate closely with colleagues in areas such as registration, legal affairs, archives, and investigations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a committee secretary, you will work with committee administration and provide administrative support during political meetings. The work encompasses several parts of the committee process and provides a good insight into how decisions are prepared, made, and followed up.

Your responsibilities include:

  • responsibility for case management and documentation
  • planning, administration, and follow-up of meetings
  • preparation of notices, agendas, and minutes
  • support and service to elected representatives and officials
  • collaboration with committee chairs, managers, and case handlers
  • support in matters concerning delegations, delegation decisions, and chair decisions
  • recording and handling of public documents according to the information management plan
  • participation in the development of common routines and digital working methods

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

  • relevant university education, for example in political science, law, or social sciences, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • good administrative skills
  • very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • good digital competence and familiarity with systems
  • Proficient in the Office suite, especially Word, and able to work with basic document formatting and templates.
  • Comfortable using digital collaboration tools such as Teams and Outlook.

Meritorious

  • experience working in public operations
  • experience in administrative work with meetings, minutes, or case management
  • interest in or basic knowledge of public administration and decision-making processes
  • experience with digital case and document management systems, preferably W3D3

You are meticulous, structured, and responsible. You have a service-oriented approach, are flexible, and enjoy collaborating with others. You are curious, eager to learn, and contribute to a positive work environment.
