Museum Assistant

At Uppsala Linnaean Gardens

The Linnaean Garden, Linné's Hammarby, and the Botanical Garden at Uppsala University together form Sweden's oldest botanical garden.

Here we cultivate more than 7000 species of plants from all corners of the earth. For over 350 years, the Linnaean Gardens have combined botany and horticulture into a beautiful and educational blend.

We are now seeking several seasonal museum assistants for tours and staffing of the reception and shop in the Linnaean Garden with the Linné Museum, Linné's Hammarby, and the Botanical Garden. All positions are part-time with varying degrees of employment during the period from May to September and include weekend work.

Job Responsibilities

Guided tours in Swedish and English, in the garden and historical buildings, sales, visitor reception, cleaning, and light gardening work. For some positions, administrative tasks may be added.

Qualifications

Education in cultural history and/or biology, especially botany, or as deemed equivalent by the employer.

You are proficient in Swedish and English and have documented good ability to speak in front of groups. You also have good teamwork skills, are flexible, and possess a sense of responsibility and service. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

Desirable and/or Meritorious

Knowledge of additional languages, work experience from museums, academic degree, knowledge about Carl von Linné, as well as possession of a B driver's license are meritorious.

Salary expectations should be stated in the application. Seasonal employment for shorter periods may also be possible. Therefore, you must indicate in your application the dates you are available to work.

About the Position

The position is a seasonal employment, the extent varies. Start date from May 1 or by agreement.
