The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and on a significant growth journey. Are you interested in space operations and want to play an important role in a department that leads capability development within the space domain? We are now looking for a Staff Assistant who wants to be part of building Sweden's Space Capability in an increasingly high-tech world.

About the Space Department:

The Space Department is under the Air Staff and was established in 2023, with representation from all branches of the armed forces: land, sea, air, and cyber. We participate in a variety of exciting projects, such as the development of a military Space Situational Awareness, satellite launches in Kiruna, requirement development and ordering of satellites, as well as international collaborations within the space domain.

The work has a broad scope, with a focus on operational support within the Space Department's Staff Section. Upon employment, training in the space domain will be offered, both nationally and internationally. We believe it is important to gain knowledge about the space domain to develop within your position and within the department.

Main Responsibilities

As a staff assistant in the space department, you will work broadly with support to the Staff Section and your other colleagues. Your tasks may include:

  • Support the Space Department's work with the Armed Forces' capability development within the space domain by participating in working groups and projects
  • Support regarding case management, allocation, and follow-up of the department's incoming cases and tasks
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as travel bookings, department-wide activities, booking of transportation, and other administration related to the Staff Section
  • Support the department's internal and external visits, including visit management, booking meeting rooms, and coordination.
  • Responsible for the workplace's expenses and simpler orders
  • Participation and support in recruitment-oriented forums and events
  • Assist other sections with simpler administration and tasks
  • Minute-taking during internal and external meetings, as well as booking and calling meetings
  • Administration of the department's collaboration areas on the intranet

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Completed Swedish military service, GMU or equivalent Swedish military basic training with a passing result
  • Completed high school education with passing grades.
  • Good computer skills with a particular focus on the Office suite.
  • Good ability to express oneself formally in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
  • Driving license B.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience of similar tasks within the Armed Forces or another authority
  • Experience in administration and case management
  • Interest and knowledge of the space domain
  • Experience working in the Armed Forces' support systems PRIO, Vidar, etc.
  • Completed high school education in a technical/scientific field

Other

Employment form: Military position. Fixed-term employment according to the agreement for employment of group leaders, soldiers, sailors within the Armed Forces (GSS/K). This means a fixed-term employment of up to eight years with the possibility of extension for another four years. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

The primary and largest task of the Air Staff is to support the Air Force Chief's leadership of all squadrons and schools in the Air Force at all levels of the conflict scale. The Air Staff develops, plans, implements, and evaluates orders and directives issued by the Air Force Chief. The Air Staff consists of approximately 350 employees. The Air Force organizes and trains air, base, and command units and is tasked with monitoring and protecting Sweden's airspace. This is a mission that continues around the clock, year-round, to ensure Sweden's integrity. Approximately 5,100 employees, both civilian and military, work within the Air Force.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required.
