Department of Animal Bioveterinary Sciences
Are you an engaged economist who enjoys responsibility, collaboration, and qualified tasks and wants to work in an academic and international environment?
About the Job
The Department of Animal Bioveterinary Sciences is one of SLU's largest departments. The administrative unit at the department is now seeking an economist for a 6-month temporary position.
The administrative unit provides support and service to the department management and employees. The group primarily works with financial and personnel administration, record-keeping, and archiving, as well as other support functions such as local issues, web, and purchasing.
As an economist with us, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues, for project finance as well as accounts receivable and payable. You will collaborate closely with researchers and teachers at the department. The tasks include:
- Preparation of project budgets
- In-depth financial monitoring at the project level
- Customer invoicing and accounts payable
- Handling of requisitions and transfer of research funds
- Financial interim reporting, final reporting, and project closure
The department also administers EU and SIDA-funded projects, where financial audits occur.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with a university degree in a relevant field or other education or experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.
Our research funders have different regulations and requirements, which means that the work requires a good ability to understand complex instructions for applications and reporting.
You have a strong service orientation, good communication skills, and enjoy having many points of contact. You work independently, are self-driven, and are happy to take the initiative. We value your ability to explain financial concepts and relationships in a pedagogical way.
The work requires attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite as the work takes place in an international environment. You have good knowledge of the Office suite and advanced skills in Excel.
Familiarity with or experience of government regulations and accounting is desirable. Experience with the systems Unit4 ERP (formerly UBW/Agresso), Proceedo, and Primula is an advantage.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
