The Position
The position of financial assistant is located in the finance and electricity trading unit within the business support area of the property department. It is a role with many points of contact both within and outside the property department. For example, you will collaborate with colleagues in accounting and IT. The property department in Uppsala Municipality is responsible for the municipality's housing and local supply and manages a property portfolio. The operation has a turnover of approximately 2 billion SEK and is organized into four areas: business support, management, local supply, and operational support. The business support area provides support to the other units of the property department and creates conditions for continued development of the department. Within business support, there are several functions, of which financial administration has a central role and provides significant support for all units within the property department. In the role of financial assistant, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to ensuring an efficient, modern, and high-quality financial administration. Our workplace is located in the City Hall (City Hall (https://www.uppsala.se/kommun-och-politik/stadshuset/Stadshuset-din-motesplats)), just a stone's throw from Uppsala Central Station. To offer flexibility, there is an opportunity to partially work remotely, with an activity-based workplace and flexible working hours based on operational needs.
Your Mission
As a financial assistant, you are an important part of the daily operations. You work closely with daily financial flows and ensure that the accounting maintains high quality. The role suits you if you thrive on structure and accuracy, but also appreciate service, collaboration, and the opportunity to contribute improvements. Here, you will actively use your skills and help develop work methods and routines.
Your Main Tasks Include:
- Supplier invoices – record, match, and follow up invoices, with a particular focus on property-related costs and agreements.
- Customer invoices and reconciliations – manage, follow up, and ensure quality.
- Electricity trading system – sign new contracts and handle cancellations.
- Administration and support – set up facilities, manage invoice inquiries, and provide support via email and phone.
- Collaboration across boundaries – work closely with colleagues in the property department and other parts of the organization to ensure smooth and accurate financial processes.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with good experience as a financial assistant or in a similar role, within the property or construction industry.
To succeed in the role, you need to have:
- Good knowledge and practical experience in accounting
- Experience working in financial systems for managing supplier and customer invoices
- Good knowledge and practical experience in Excel
- High school education or equivalent education with an economic focus
It is an advantage if you also have:
- Post-secondary education in business administration
- Experience from financial work in larger organizations or public sector
- Good knowledge of property and/or construction VAT
- Good knowledge of digital working methods (as we work paper-free)
