Uppsala University, Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences

Would you like to work broadly with finance and accounting supported by experienced and friendly colleagues in an organization striving to make a long-term difference in society? Do you want an employer that invests in sustainable employee engagement and offers secure, favorable working conditions? Welcome to apply for the position of Financial Administrator at Uppsala University.

The Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences is a department within the Faculty of Medicine at Uppsala University. The operations consist of 11 research groups, and education is conducted at all levels. Here you can read more about us: https://www.pubcare.uu.se/ (https://www.pubcare.uu.se/)

The administrative group currently consists of 20 people working in finance, HR, and study administration. We are now looking for a temporary Financial Administrator. We are located at the Biomedical Center in Uppsala and are seeking someone who prefers to work on-site at the office, although there is an option for remote work one day a week.

As an employer, we can offer you a social workplace with wonderful colleagues, flexible working hours, and internal training for professional development in your role as a Financial Administrator. Good conditions for balancing work and leisure are important to us, and we apply flexible working hours and have favorable vacation conditions. We offer all employees wellness grants and wellness activities during work hours.

Job Responsibilities

As a Financial Administrator, you will work independently but with close collaboration and support from colleagues in the finance group. You will relieve the department's economists with financial administration but also have your own areas of responsibility that you will manage. You will work with invoice processing, ongoing bookkeeping, and accounting issues, and also have contact with the department's researchers and teachers, providing them with support in financial matters.

Among the tasks and areas of responsibility are:

  • Invoice processing
  • Accounting, monitoring, and analysis
  • Forecasts and cost calculations
  • Budgeting and year-end closing work
  • Reporting to external funders
  • Contributing to the ongoing further development of routines and work methods
  • Other administrative tasks may arise.

Qualifications

  • Higher education/university degree in a relevant field, e.g., accounting or equivalent competence assessed by the employer as equivalent.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Current and documented experience in financial work
  • Very good IT skills and current experience working in administrative systems and in the Office suite, as you will be working in several different administrative systems that are continuously changing.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. The role requires that you enjoy working with administration, are meticulous, and have a good ability to work in a structured manner. Furthermore, you need to be a team player with a good ability to collaborate with others and have the ability to take responsibility for your own tasks and areas of responsibility. It is important that you are unpretentious and flexible as the role is broad, and you need to be able to take on varying tasks, sometimes with short notice. The workload varies throughout the year, and you need to be able to work independently, controlled, and structured during peak times but also have the ability to drive and plan your work during quieter periods.
