Press Communicator at the Swedish Migration Agency

At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. We are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for a press communicator with good knowledge of the Swedish Migration Agency's operations for the press and production unit in Sundbyberg.

This is a personal substitute position lasting until 270401.

What do we do in the communications department?

We are about 45 employees distributed across the press and production unit, the communications unit, and the digital communication unit. We carry out most of the work together in close collaboration with the rest of the organization. Our mission includes management and leadership communication, overall internal and external communication, news about our operations, crisis communication, graphic profile, media management, training in communication issues, the agency's presence on social media, and the development and management of websites and other digital channels.

What does a press communicator do?

As a press communicator, you will work both strategically and operationally with the agency's media issues. You will be involved in planning, coordinating, and executing various types of press activities. You will gather facts about our operations and package them for different channels. You will act as strategic media support to managers and experts and provide good service to the media. The assignment also includes working with the agency's crisis communication.

The tasks in the press service broadly include:

  • Handling media inquiries and providing good service to journalists
  • Performing ongoing communication tasks, such as producing messages and news texts.
  • Supporting managers and employees in media management
  • Proactively planning and developing the agency's media work
  • Media monitoring and analysis
  • Crisis communication.

Who are you?

You have a very good ability to quickly adapt assignments and working methods based on conditions influenced by events in the world around you. You are passionate about conveying facts about the Swedish Migration Agency's mission to the public in a pedagogical manner. You communicate engagingly in individual meetings and small and large groups, listen, and are receptive to the other party and adapt to the situation. Furthermore, you work well with complex issues, break them down into their components, and solve them. You remain calm regardless of circumstances and have the ability to focus on the right things. Requirements for applicants

  • University degree in communication, law, social or behavioral sciences, or other education combined with relevant experience.
  • Very good communication skills in both Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience being interviewed by journalists.
  • Current work experience from the Swedish Migration Agency's operational activities.
  • Experience writing news texts and messages under time pressure.
  • Experience working in case management systems like Wilma, SKAPA, Simba.
