Development Officer at the Army Combat School

The role of the Army Combat School (MSS) is to work together with other parts of the army to create conditions for the Army Combat School to solve its assigned tasks in the best possible way, both nationally and internationally. MSS also carries out tasks for the entire Armed Forces, such as the development and procurement of soldier-borne equipment, firearms, and support weapons. Your workplace is of international top class when it comes to combat training facilities.

The development unit of MSS supports the army staff with the development of army units regarding organization, material, methods, publications, and personnel in a variety of areas. The work includes extensive support to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and participation in studies and experimental activities. The unit consists of a unit management and six departments. The departments work within the various development areas. The unit is geographically located in Skövde and Kvarn between Linköping and Motala.

Main Responsibilities

In the role of development officer functional representative for the command system function, you will have the opportunity to work with development issues and follow-up regarding the command system function in the army with associated units. The goal is for everyone working in the command support system to have good access to the services of the command support system to increase the capability and efficiency of the unit and in the field solving war tasks.

In this role, you will primarily work with:

  • Leading the follow-up of the command system function with associated units and command support systems.
  • Leading capability development projects within the command system function.
  • Leading and coordinating goal-setting work for the command system function and its units in the army.
  • Supporting AST in coordinating the development and follow-up of the command system function in the army.
  • Leading unit trials.
  • Maintaining a network for the command system function in the army as well as with NATO and other combat forces.
  • Leading and integrating development work with NATO for the command system function in the army.
  • Being the contact person for AST, FMV, FOI, and the industry for the area of work.

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Professional officer OF 3 or equivalent competence.
  • Service with adequate experience from service within the command system function in the army's combat units.
  • Experience with command systems and associated platforms.
  • B driver's license (manual).
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English.

Meritorious:

  • It is meritorious if you have practical and extensive experience from service in various parts of the command system within the army's combat units, for example, Brigade Command Company Commander, Deputy C Division Command Battalion, Command Chief Brigade or Division.
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in French.
  • Leading development work in the Armed Forces.
  • It is also meritorious with practical and theoretical competence in development activities with Concept Development and Experimentation.

  • Leading enterprise architecture work and modeling.

About the Employment: Number of positions: 1. Employment form: Permanent. Employment degree: Full-time. Start date: As soon as possible or by agreement. Work location: Skövde, but Kvarn may also be considered depending on the applicant's wishes. Part of the working time will be allocated to other locations to support the Armed Forces' activities. Business trips: will occur to a relatively large extent, primarily nationally but also internationally.
