Development Officer Command Posts

The role of the Army Combat School (MSS) is to create conditions together with other parts of the army to ensure that MSS can solve its assigned tasks in the best possible way, both nationally and internationally. MSS also handles tasks for the entire Armed Forces, such as the development and procurement of soldier-carried equipment, firearms, and support weapons. Your workplace is of international top class when it comes to combat training facilities.

The MSS development unit supports the army staff with the development of army units regarding organization, material, methods, publications, and personnel in a variety of areas. Some examples of development areas include the development of command support systems, several of the Armed Forces' (FM) armored vehicle systems, firearms for different parts of the FM, command methods, regulations, and manuals, as well as several of the army's weapon systems. The work includes extensive support to the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and participation in studies and experimental activities. The unit consists of a unit management and six departments. The departments work within the various development areas. The unit is geographically located in Skövde and Kvarn between Linköping and Motala.

Main Responsibilities

In the role of development officer for command posts, you will have the opportunity to work on development issues regarding the integration of command support systems in the Armed Forces' command posts. The goal is for everyone working in the command support system to have good accessibility to the services of the command support system to increase the capability and efficiency of the unit and in the field solving war tasks.

In this role, you will primarily work with:

  • Participating in capability development projects
  • Participating in goal-setting work for material systems used at the Armed Forces' command posts
  • Leading material projects with associated collaboration with FMV, industry, and combat units
  • Leading material and unit trials
  • Being the contact responsible for AST, FMV, FOI, and the industry for the area of command posts

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone with a good ability to collaborate and cooperate both internally and externally. You have a strong desire to develop yourself and your area of responsibility. You are driven and have a good ability to work independently and goal-oriented. You have high integrity and are security-conscious. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Professional officer OR7
  • Previous relevant service from service within combat units.
  • Practical experience of command systems
  • Understanding of brigade units' and platforms' command needs.
  • B driver's license (manual)

Meritorious

It is advantageous if you have practical and extensive experience from service in various parts of command systems, primarily within the Brigade's combat units, for example, IS operations leader or command/communication technician.

It is also advantageous to have previous experience in development activities and project management, as well as holding a driver's license for tracked vehicles, off-road vehicles, and a C driver's license.

About the Employment: Number of positions: 1. Employment form: Permanent. Employment degree: Full-time. Start date: As soon as possible or by agreement. Work location: Skövde, but Kvarn may also be considered depending on the applicant's wishes. Working hours: Part of the working hours will be allocated to other locations to support the Armed Forces' operations. Business trips: occur, mainly nationally but also internationally.

The Army Combat School is a joint army school for the development, education, and training of the army's combat units. The Army Combat School trains officers and specialist officers, plans and conducts exercises, and trains combat units in advanced combat training facilities. In close cooperation with the army staff and other units, the Army Combat School develops type units, capabilities, methods, and material. Within the framework of the entire Armed Forces' growth, the Army Combat School plays an important role in the ongoing modernization of the army.
