The Role of the Unit Manager at Skaraborg Regiment
The Unit Manager at Skaraborg Regiment is part of the unit leadership. The Unit Manager provides support, advice, and guidance on matters related to the leadership of the regiment, garrison, and military base. The Unit Manager at Skaraborg Regiment is also the Garrison Manager in Skövde garrison and Military Base Manager when the military base is activated.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Supporting the unit commander in exercising leadership through follow-up within the unit's various operational areas.
- Supporting the unit commander in exercising leadership to ensure that order, routines, normative rules, regulations, and traditions are followed.
- Supporting the unit commander with the regiment's long-term personnel supply to ensure that personnel with the right qualifications and depth of competence are available in their respective areas of work and that there is planning for future needs.
- Supporting the unit commander's development of P 4 operational areas through follow-up.
- Supporting C P 4 with the implementation and management of the multi-command system.
- Leading P 4's work with the management of the Army's instruction for professional development and promotion and the development of C P4 guidelines for professional development.
- Leading the P 4 management council.
- Leading the P 4 validation committee prior to the promotion of all military personnel (VPL, GSS, RO, YOFF).
- Leading P 4's work with student management and follow-up.
- Supporting the Army Manager within your area of expertise aimed at the continued development of the specialist officer system and the Army's basic and unit training.
- Leading development tasks and projects as needed.
- Performing other prioritized tasks assigned by C P 4.
Qualifications
- Continuously serving officer in the Armed Forces, at least SO8/equivalent, with a clear forecast towards positions at the SO9 level.
- Should have at least 25 years of well-rated service as a professional officer in the Armed Forces.
- Good knowledge of the three-command system's application within the framework of professional development of military personnel.
- Approved results on Armed Forces tests in the selection process for SO9.
- Good communication skills in both speech and writing.
- Good proficiency in English – spoken and written.
Personal Qualities
You are a good representative of the Armed Forces. You have trust and respect within the organization for both your competence and your personal qualities. You have a good analytical ability and a holistic view. You are a team player who is loyal to the organization's demands and goals and represents the normative rules that govern military operations. You have a good ability to operate through indirect leadership. You are resilient and can easily handle many matters at the same time. The work requires that you have a very good ability to work independently and are accustomed to planning, executing, and completing projects. You have a recognized ability to lead/participate in working groups with broad representation from various professional categories.
Great emphasis will be placed on your personal suitability.
Meritorious:
- Service in a central staff/AST or equivalent.
- Served in leadership-like positions at the company, battalion, and brigade level.
- Have been a teacher at one of the Army's functional schools or equivalent.
- Experience from international military missions (NATO, EU, UN).
Other
Supplementary tests will be conducted in accordance with FM2022-17883:3. The local personnel supply committee is used as a preparation body for selection. The unit's documentation is prepared in the central personnel supply committee before a decision is made by the Armed Forces' Personnel Director.
As a regiment manager, you are personnel-planned by the Armed Forces Staff's HR department.
Before placement as a unit manager P 4, you may serve for competence at the central staff according to a special service plan.
Employment type: Full-time
Work location: Skövde, national and international travel may occur.
Start date: Appointment is planned to take place in the spring of 2027 after competence development.

Skaraborg Regiment, P 4 operates from Älvdalen in the north to Remmene in the south. The leadership is located in Skövde where most of the conscription training takes place. The regiment's task is to recruit and train conscripts and personnel for two armored battalions, a heavy transport company, and a brigade reconnaissance company. P 4 is also responsible for a brigade staff that, in times of crisis and war, will lead large parts of the army's units.
