Deputy Head of Department J3 for the Western Military Region
The Western Military Region (MR V) is a military unit headquartered in Skövde. The staff consists of both permanent and temporary serving professional officers, soldiers, and civilians.
The Commander of the Western Military Region (C MR V) reports directly to the Chief of Operations Management. C MR V has territorial responsibility in the military region covering Västra Götaland, Halland, Värmland, and Örebro counties. Within the framework of this territorial responsibility, C MR V leads subordinate units, collaborates with regional and local actors, manages security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders in addressing tasks within the military region.
J3 operates around the clock and leads the execution of operations and missions within the military region under C MR V at all levels of readiness. This includes managing regional transport and transits, mobilization management, protection and surveillance of the Armed Forces' assets, leading operations with assigned and other units, and providing support for civilian missions.
J3 is divided into the Chief Section, Operations Section, and Planning Section to handle different time perspectives. The Operations and Planning Sections have their own leaders with personnel responsibilities and clear tasks in their respective areas of responsibility.
Main Responsibilities as Deputy Head of Department J3
As the Deputy Head of Department J3, you will be stationed at MR V Headquarters. You will be responsible, under the department head, for planning, executing, and evaluating operations and missions to fulfill C MR V's territorial responsibilities. This role requires a significant degree of coordination and collaboration with central, regional, and local actors within and outside the Armed Forces. Other common tasks include supporting other parts of MR V Headquarters with defense planning, collaboration, method development, etc. The position may involve standby and on-call duties during certain periods, depending on the current situation.
Qualifications
- Swedish citizen
- Professional officer, at least OF-3
- Driver's license, at least class B
Meritorious
- Previous experience in staff service, nationally or internationally
- Previous experience in decision-making at higher tactical or operational levels
- Previous experience in collaboration within the framework of Total Defense
- Good proficiency in Office programs and the Armed Forces' various command support systems, such as SWECCIS and IS Undsäk
- Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing
- Good ability to express oneself in military English, both in speech and writing
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone with a calm and secure personality, preferably based on experience from operational leadership at tactical or operational levels. You are a person with good judgment, high integrity, and a strong security awareness. You are analytical and have an open mind. Your dynamic approach fits well in an environment with high demands for pace changes, quick decision-making, and direct communication. You possess high social skills based on humility and pragmatism. You are clearly driven and responsible. You solve tasks equally well in teams and independently.
The high demands of the position mean that great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
Other Information
Permanent employment as an officer, 100%. Work during evenings and weekends may occur.
The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the authority.
Start date as soon as possible by agreement.
Work location Skövde, business trips with overnight stays may occur.
Individual salary applies.
The position entails military placement in MR V Headquarters.
Security clearance with background check will be conducted prior to employment according to §19 of the Security Protection Act. The position is classified in security class 2.
Employment includes a national and international duty to serve.
