Financial Controller at the National Library of Sweden
Do you want to strengthen financial management in an organization dedicated to preserving Sweden's cultural heritage for the future? Do you enjoy translating complex information into pedagogical materials that help organizations make better decisions?
Currently, the National Library of Sweden (KB) is seeking an engaged and forward-thinking financial controller driven by the desire to develop financial governance and processes.
Responsibilities
As a financial controller in the Unit for Finance and Procurement within the Department for Operational Support, you will play a central role in planning, analyzing, and monitoring KB's finances and operations at a government-wide level. You will work closely with project managers, unit heads, and department heads in forecasting, budgeting, and follow-up work. You will also support long-term investment calculations and various financial business cases. You will be responsible for managing and reporting on external funds, both internally and externally.
Furthermore, you will contribute to ongoing and future development initiatives aimed at improving processes, methods, and routines related to project management, an important part of strengthening the quality assurance of decision-making materials.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes
To succeed in this role, you need:
- A university degree in finance or an equivalent qualification
- Several years of relevant experience as a financial controller or similar
- Recent experience working with budgets, forecasts, analysis, and follow-up from a medium or large organization
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English
Preferred qualifications include:
- Relevant experience in public sector finance
- Experience implementing or driving the development of budgeting and forecasting tools or decision support
- Good knowledge of the state budget process
As a person, you are communicative, driven, and enjoy collaborating with others. You are meticulous, plan, organize, and prioritize your work in a structured manner. You have strong analytical skills and solve problems constructively. You also have experience in pedagogically guiding colleagues in financial matters.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal attributes.
A security interview and background check may be conducted with the final candidate.
Employment and Start Date
This is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date is as soon as possible or by agreement. The position is located in central Stockholm.
KB operates in various locations, including Stockholm, Strängnäs, and Bålsta. With us, you have the opportunity for remote work up to 50% of the time.

About the Unit for Finance and Procurement
The Unit for Finance and Procurement is part of the Department for Operational Support. The unit's mission is to be responsible for operational planning, financial management, and monitoring at the government level, as well as coordinating and supporting KB's overall budget monitoring and budget process. The unit is also responsible for financial reporting, year-end closing, financial reporting, annual reports, and coordinating and supporting procurement and purchasing of goods and services. Additionally, the unit provides support in financial administration, travel services, and representation rules, as well as reporting and management issues related to funds associated with KB.
