About the Department

We currently have a department for secure communication that will be divided into two new departments starting April 1, 2025. The Department for Preparedness and Security Protection is responsible for the agency's work within civil defense and security protection. This includes developing guidelines for PTS's total defense work, implementing and following up on robustness measures, coordinating and developing PTS's role as the sector-responsible preparedness authority, and conducting oversight regarding security protection. The department also houses the agency's internal security protection organization.

The department, which consists of five units, is in an expansive phase and will grow in the coming years to meet new demands and challenges. We are currently advanced in our work with preparedness issues and have a very good reputation among the total defense authorities.

I, Catarina Wretman, will be your manager and am the division head for societal needs. From April 1, we will have three departments, and as department head, you will be part of my management team. I sit on the PTS management team and see it as my responsibility to create the best possible conditions for you and the department to succeed. I believe in trust and am happy to delegate responsibility, but I am always available to support and contribute. Together, we build a strong team that meets future challenges with commitment and professionalism.

About the Role

As department head, you have overall responsibility for leading and developing the department so that the operation meets its goals and responds to the demands of a changing environment. You work strategically to develop the department's working methods and processes while ensuring that the department operates effectively and efficiently in its mission. An important part of the role is to create and maintain strong collaborations with the government offices, other authorities, and actors within the preparedness sector.

You will work closely with your colleagues in the division management team and have a special collaboration with the head of the cybersecurity department. You are also the department's representative in various national and international contexts.

About You

You are a collaborative and unpretentious leader who inspires and engages your employees. You have the ability to see the big picture, prioritize correctly, and find strategic solutions that move the operation forward. Your leadership is characterized by stability and communication – you listen actively and are clear in both speech and writing. Furthermore, you have an analytical approach and handle stress and challenges with a calm that creates security for the organization.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Relevant academic degree in a relevant field for the position.
• Several years of experience as a manager with responsibility for budget and personnel issues in public operations.
• Experience in business development and change management.
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
• Basic knowledge of IT and telecommunications.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience leading managers.
• Experience collaborating with other authorities.
• Experience working in or closely dialoguing with the Government Offices.
• Several years of experience working on issues related to civil defense.

Good to Know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial probationary period of six months. The placement is in Stockholm, and we look forward to you starting with us as soon as possible by agreement. Your job title will be department head.

The position is classified in a security class. Therefore, Swedish citizenship and a successful security screening in accordance with sections 1-3 of the Security Protection Act (2018:585) are required for employment.
