Unit Manager in Sequencing and Bioinformatics

What will you work with?
As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for the unit and ensuring that the unit works in accordance with the agency's overall goals and mission. You have personnel and work environment responsibility, as well as budget and operational responsibility for the unit, and you are part of the department's management team. As a unit manager, you are responsible for work methods and collaboration within the unit and department, as well as with other parts of the agency. You develop and represent the business internally and externally.
As a unit manager at the Public Health Agency, you are an employer, business representative, and leader.

Who are we looking for?
Requirements for the position:
- Relevant university degree in natural sciences, technology, medicine, or another field deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Managerial experience with personnel responsibility.

Personal suitability for the position, such as good leadership qualities, which include being decisive and strategic. Work experience from microbiology and/or molecular biology. Work experience in bioinformatics and/or next-generation sequencing. Work experience from accredited laboratory activities.
Significant importance is placed on several years of managerial or leadership experience.
What does the unit do?
At the Laboratory Development Unit, there is the Microbiology Platform for Sequencing and the department's bioinformaticians. The unit is responsible for the operation, support, and development of the platform and is responsible, among other things, for the development of Gensam, a national platform for sequence analysis.

About the position
You will be employed as a unit manager based at our office in Solna. The position is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period. The start date is 2025-04-01 or as soon as possible by agreement.
As an employee of the Public Health Agency, you may be assigned to wartime service. Some positions are classified as security positions where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. Security clearance will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
At the agency, there may be the opportunity to agree on remote work for up to 40 percent of your working time.
