Do you want to analyze how the state should borrow? The Swedish National Debt Office is tasked with managing Sweden's public debt at the lowest possible cost, taking risk into account. As an analyst here, you play a vital role in Sweden's macroeconomy by producing the analyses and decision-support materials that underpin the management of the Swedish public debt.

What we offer you

Here, you solve complex analytical problems together with experienced colleagues. Your findings reach the management and board of the Swedish National Debt Office, and in guideline matters, ultimately the Government. You work on issues concerning interest and currency markets, from borrowing strategy to evaluation and risk analysis. You also have excellent opportunities for development, both in methodology and subject matter.

About the role

As an analyst in the Analysis Unit within the Debt Management Department, you work in several of the Swedish National Debt Office's processes, from planning the state's borrowing to developing guidelines and supporting materials for evaluation.

You work with qualified analysis where you:

  • Analyze the composition of the public debt, for example the trade-off between cost and risk, maturity and currency exposure, and scenario analysis of borrowing strategies.
  • Lead investigations and projects or participate in them.
  • Produce decision-support materials for the management and board of the Swedish National Debt Office.
  • Develop and further develop methods and models for borrowing, cost, and risk calculations.
  • Implement models and calculations in Python and automate recurring analyses.

You also monitor regulations, markets, and practices in the external environment. You work on policy issues in a project format and independently, in close collaboration with colleagues within the department and the agency.

Your qualifications

Requirements:

  • An academic degree in economics, financial economics, or equivalent, or other education with a quantitative content.
  • Experience in applying statistical methods and financial mathematics in analytical work.
  • Experience in producing, structuring, and quality-assuring decision-support materials and reports, as well as expressing yourself clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to independently implement models and analyses in Python.

You collaborate well and contribute to a good work climate. You analyze complex issues and produce well-thought-out solutions, seeing both the details and the big picture. You take initiative, drive the work forward, and plan, prioritize, and carry out your tasks in a structured manner.

Meritorious qualifications:

  • Experience in macroeconomic analysis.
  • Experience in debt management and interest rate markets.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages, such as MATLAB or R.
