Who are we?
The Swedish Armed Forces Internal Audit reports directly to the authority's management – the Supreme Commander and the Director General. Our mission is to create value through independent auditing, advisory services, and the development of internal governance and control.
We are a team of ten experienced employees with both civilian and military backgrounds. Together, we combine broad competence, high integrity, and a strong commitment to the development of the operations.
Main Responsibilities
As an Internal Auditor with a focus on IT, you lead and conduct audits of operations, systems, and processes throughout the Swedish Armed Forces. You work closely with management to identify risks, evaluate internal governance and control, and analyze how IT and digitalization support the organization's goals.
The role is unique in that you operate at the intersection of operations, technology, information management, and defense capability. You combine analysis, advisory services, and operational development in a complex environment with significant societal impact.
The role offers great variety, many contact points, and considerable independent responsibility, while also giving you the opportunity to influence operations at both operational and strategic levels.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and conduct internal audits focusing on IT and digital environments
- Analyze risks and evaluate governance, control, and efficiency in operations, processes, and systems
- Present conclusions and recommendations to managers and leadership
- Provide specialist support in IT, system, and governance issues
- Follow developments in IT, cybersecurity, and digitalization
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Relevant academic degree or other education that the employer deems equivalent
- Current and relevant experience of auditing or inspection with a focus on IT operations
- Current and relevant experience of using digital tools and data analysis as support in auditing and inspection work
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English – both spoken and written
Personal Attributes

You are trustworthy and communicative, with the ability to build good relationships and conduct constructive dialogues. At the same time, you work independently with high integrity and are comfortable challenging existing ways of working, asking relevant questions, and driving improvement work.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal attributes.
MERITORIOUS QUALIFICATIONS
- CISA certification or equivalent
- Experience from the public sector
- Experience from defense, security, or critical societal operations
- Experience from the Swedish Armed Forces

Information about the recruiting unit:
The Supreme Commander and the Director General are located at the Headquarters. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. As of 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, the Operations Command, the Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters Staff Department and independent units for supervision.
An employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. A security investigation with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position. A CV and personal letter must be attached to the application for employment.
