RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a relationship-oriented and development-focused Area Manager, concurrently serving as Assistant Section Manager, who wishes to take responsibility for the valuable work carried out within preschools, primary schools, and adapted primary schools in Vårgårda.

The assignment covers the operational area of preschools, primary schools, and adapted primary schools, where you lead a management group consisting of principals within the area. You are formally the School Director according to the Education Act and have full responsibility for quality, working environment, and economy. You ensure that legislation, steering documents, and national goals become a clear part of both the long-term development of the operations and daily management. With the development, learning, and goal fulfillment of children and students in focus, you lead the development of the operations through systematic quality work based on follow-up, analysis, and improvement.

Vårgårda is changing its political organization in 2027, and together with the Section Manager, you will build structure and culture in the entire new Section Area "Bildning" (Education/Culture), which covers operations from preschool to adult education.

You support the political committee through dialogue and expertise together with the Section Manager. You report to the Section Manager, and together you form a leadership team where you are expected to drive section-wide and municipality-wide issues to develop both the section and the municipality as a whole. You collaborate with colleagues and others to create forward momentum based on the vision and direction of the shared administration – together we are building long-term sustainable welfare.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who have experience in qualified assignments within educational activities and documented good results from leading in a complex organization. You have good knowledge of the school's chain of command and steering documents, as well as experience leading development with a focus on quality, learning, and goal fulfillment. You use research and proven methods as a basis for development and improvement. You understand the interplay between politics, administration, and operations and can balance strategic goals, operational needs, and a long-term development perspective.

You have a well-founded and value-driven leadership style where you create psychological safety and clear direction based on the municipality's vision and guiding goals. With a communicative approach, you build trust, learning, and forward momentum to create sustainable results over time.

You lead through other managers and create conditions for strong pedagogical leadership in the operations. You are clear in direction and responsibility while maintaining a responsive and relationship-building approach.

You lead development in a changing environment and create, together with others, conditions for long-term development, continuous improvements, and shared responsibility. Your leadership is characterized by both clarity and collaboration, where you build good relationships both within the municipality and with other societal actors.

We are looking for you who have:

• a university degree within the operational area or another university degree deemed suitable
• principal training
• experience in leadership within educational activities
• very good knowledge of steering documents and the school's mission

It is meritorious if you have:

• experience leading other managers within the operational area
• experience as a teacher and principal
• school director training
