Description

Göteborgs Kulturskola is a meeting place for young art and culture. We offer activities and education in music, visual arts, photography, film, circus, theater, and dance for children and young people aged 6–19 during their free time.

We are now looking for a pedagogue for the Youth Biennale on a 20% position. The work is primarily scheduled for Friday afternoons and evenings, approximately one Saturday per month, and during certain school holidays.

The Youth Biennale is a cross-artistic activity for young people aged 13–19, where participants create a scenic production together. The course has previously been conducted in collaboration with, among others, the Gothenburg Opera and Aftonstjärnan.

The activity aims to inspire and motivate young people in their artistic development, offer a social context, and contribute to integration in the city. The work is based on the participants' ideas. Through coaching, process facilitation, and pedagogical support, you help young people realize their ideas in scenic expressions where their voices and perspectives are central.

Responsibilities

The role involves developing and implementing performing arts projects together with young people, where their ideas and perspectives are central. You lead creative processes, facilitate workshops, and create conditions for them to drive the performance forward. You work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues to create conditions for young people's participation and independent creation.

The responsibilities include collaboration with other cultural actors, as well as planning and conducting meetings, lessons, and workshops for young people. The role also includes following up and evaluating activities, communicating with participants, guardians, colleagues, and external partners, as well as handling some administration. Part of the work also involves developing methods for young people's influence.

You are part of a work team with three colleagues with complementary competencies. Together, you are responsible for the participants and collaborate with guardians and external partners.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have experience working cross-artistically and process-oriented with young people. It is meritorious if you have education in performing arts, theater pedagogy, cultural pedagogy, drama, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience in leading larger projects or productions is also meritorious.

You are accustomed to planning, implementing, and completing projects, as well as facilitating groups and supporting young people's engagement and responsibility-taking. You create safe and inclusive contexts where young people can grow, develop, and contribute within given frameworks. You are responsive, relationship-building, and inspiring. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create participation, influence, and co-creation processes where young people are given room to influence and develop.

To succeed in the role, you are self-reliant, flexible, and proactive. You take responsibility for both your own and shared tasks, adapt to changed conditions, and drive the work forward. You also have a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges that may arise in working with young people, are clear when necessary, and collaborate well with others.
