The Department of Nursing and Health conducts education and research focusing on care, health, and people's living conditions. We educate nurses, radiographers, specialist nurses, and midwives with the goal of meeting society's need for competent and dedicated healthcare personnel. The research at the department spans many areas but has a common starting point in person-centered and evidence-based care. We are nationally and internationally leading in person-centered care, and this approach permeates education, research, and collaboration with healthcare. The department is part of the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and operates on Campus Medicinareberget with direct proximity to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Our department has approximately 1,200 students training in licensed healthcare professions, at both basic and advanced levels.

We are looking for an employee with a strong interest in teaching, who is interested in working with both course development and pedagogical development. The employee should have a strong commitment to conveying knowledge to students and a strong pedagogical engagement.
The position is primarily located within the Section for Learning and Leadership for Health Professions. Teaching takes place primarily at the basic level within the Nursing Programme, the Radiographer Programme, as well as advanced-level education in supervision. If needed, current tasks will also be carried out in collaboration with other sections at the department.

Subject Description
Nursing Science is based on a humanistic view of humanity and generates knowledge about caring in connection with health, illness, and disease. It encompasses the preservation, promotion, and recovery of health in relation to the person's life situation, the biological body, and sociocultural aspects. The starting point is an ethics that implies that as a caregiver, you meet the patient and relatives as persons in a partnership to promote health. Additionally, informal care and support, the organization of healthcare, activities and environments, as well as conditions and prerequisites for the person's and the population's health and care are studied.
Tasks
The tasks include teaching at basic and advanced levels, supervising bachelor's theses at the basic level, and being responsible for courses at basic and advanced levels. As a course coordinator, the role includes developing and coordinating learning objectives, learning activities, examination forms, and assessment criteria in relation to content, purpose, and current pedagogical research. Furthermore, it involves ensuring the quality of the education with validated evaluation methods. Contact teaching for the practice-based education is an important part of the employment. Teaching in clinical skills is included to some extent.
Teaching takes place primarily in subject-specific areas related to the nursing profession and core competencies: person-centered care, safe care, informatics, team collaboration, evidence-based care, leadership, interprofessional learning, and pedagogy.
The tasks also include staying updated on current developments in the subject-specific areas, the nursing profession's professional role, person-centered leadership, and clinically integrated learning.
Administrative tasks related to the educational activities are a very significant part of the job.
Furthermore, the role includes actively working for the development of the main subject area of nursing science/nursing as well as collaboration with healthcare regarding practice-based education. Other tasks may occur, and the content of the employment may change over time.
The employment also includes actively contributing to achieving the department's goals and operational plan, which among other things means working to develop the academic environment within the section's Complete Academic Environment (KAM). In addition, all employees are expected to participate in planned joint meetings and activities arranged at the department.
The applicant must teach in Swedish and English.
Qualifications
Qualifications for employment as a teacher are regulated in the University of Gothenburg's employment regulations.
Documented pedagogical skill and completion of higher education at least at an advanced level within nursing science with a focus on nursing, or equivalent competence, or other skill that is significant with regard to the subject content of the employment and the tasks to be included in the employment. Swedish nursing license is required.
Mastery of Swedish and English in both speech and writing is required.
