As a substitute teacher, you can work in preschools, primary school (grades F-6), lower secondary school (grades 7-9), adapted primary school, and after-school centers. We offer our substitutes one to two workplaces where you get the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging with the team, receive individual induction based on previous experience and education, and maintain close contact with the principal and administrator. If you can work in several units and at different geographical locations, our opportunities to offer you more shifts increase.

Job Responsibilities

As a substitute, you work either in preschool, primary school (grades F-6 or 7-9), adapted primary school, or after-school centers.

Preschool

In the preschool, you work as a substitute together with permanent pedagogues in the activity, where the preschool teacher leads the pedagogical work in collaboration with other staff. Through care and pedagogical activities based on play and creativity, you work to promote children's development and learning. The preschool's task is to create an environment that supports, challenges, and attracts, thereby laying a foundation for learning for all children. To succeed, you need to be a good and secure role model who actively supports and guides the children during their stay.

Primary School (F-6) and After-School Centers

As a substitute in primary school, you support our permanent teachers during their absences, teach in various subjects, and contribute to a safe and inspiring learning environment. It is important that you find it motivating to teach and that you can engage students in a pedagogical way. After the school day ends, you can also work at the after-school center where you, together with your colleagues, carry out activities with the students to create a meaningful leisure time after school hours.

Lower Secondary School (7-9)

As a substitute in lower secondary school, you support permanent teachers during their absences by teaching according to plans and contributing to a safe, structured, and study-friendly learning environment. You meet students in various subjects and work to motivate, engage, and support them in their learning and personal development. The role also involves being a clear and secure adult, maintaining good order in the classroom, and collaborating with colleagues to create a positive and respectful school environment.

Adapted Primary School

In adapted primary school, you assist students in need of special support as a hourly substitute. You may work with a specific student, sometimes with a group of students, or with the whole class. You guide students in their studies and provide support in the classroom.

Qualifications

• You are at least 18 years old.
• You are available with short notice, as bookings can occur as late as 45 minutes before a shift starts.
• You live in Alingsås Municipality or the surrounding area, with the ability to get to the workplace quickly and easily.
• You have the opportunity to work at least a couple of shifts per week to contribute to continuity for children, students, and staff.
• You have a good command of the Swedish language in speech, comprehension, and writing.

Merits

• Education or experience within school or preschool.
• Leadership experience, for example through club life or similar.

We are looking for you who have pedagogical ability and a genuine interest in working with children and young people. You have a good manner of dealing with people, are sensitive to others' needs, and meet every individual with respect. You find it easy to build good relationships and take responsibility for your role as a substitute. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment Form and Terms

Employment Form: Fixed-term employment / Intermittent employment / Hourly employment as needed.
Duration: 3-6 months, start date: We recruit continuously based on the needs of the operations.
