About the workplace

At our adapted primary school, approximately 60 students in grades 1–9 attend. We have students studying both by subjects and subject areas. At the adapted primary school, several professional groups work together, such as student assistants/daycare staff, special education teachers, and special needs pedagogues. Together, we work to ensure that the students' entire school day is secure, with a focus on the educational mission.

Responsibilities

We are looking for you who have a great interest in people and the ability to build good relationships. As a student assistant in adapted primary school, you work, both during school hours and leisure time, based on each student's individual development and prerequisites. The students have a high care need and require support in various situations throughout the entire combined school day. You carry out and develop the students' education together with the work team, and you are responsible, together with colleagues, for the planning and work at the after-school center.

The work is physically demanding and includes elements of care. As staff at the adapted primary school, you are expected to be outdoors daily, participate in activities such as forest walks, floor games, as well as swimming and bathing at the pool. You are involved in the student's ADL (Activities of Daily Living) and need to be able to use lifts, various physical aids, and tube feeding.

Qualifications

We see that you have experience working with students who need AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), and that you have the ability to interpret social interactions and signals from the students. Furthermore, we see that you are an adult role model, safe, and trust-building with a professional and low-affective approach.

You have completed upper secondary education with a focus on children and leisure or care and nursing, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Experience with PECS/TAKK (Picture Exchange Communication System/Signs as Alternative and Complementary Communication) is meritorious. It is meritorious if you have completed a student assistant training and have experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

You are flexible, solution-oriented, and sensitive to the students' individual prerequisites. It is required that you are calm, pedagogical, have great patience, and the ability to create security for each student. Clarity in your actions is important.

Experience working at an after-school center is meritorious. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We are looking for people who can be flexible and work as hourly substitutes, both for morning call-ins and planned substitute positions.
