We are looking for an engaged lecturer with specialist competence who wants to develop education, research, and collaboration while simultaneously making a difference for students' clinical skills and professional development.

The position is within the subject of nursing, which at the University of Skövde is defined as the science that creates knowledge about caring relationships and actions that, based on the patient's life context, promote physical, mental, social, and existential health. Through this, health is seen as something more than the absence of disease and can be related to a person's sense of well-being. The subject's profile emphasizes the ethical patient perspective as the part of the value system where the patient's vulnerability, own perspective on their health situation, own resources, and self-determination are central.

Your Role

As a lecturer in nursing, you will become part of the University's continued development. You are expected to actively contribute to education, research, and collaboration with the surrounding society – with a focus on creating utility and relevance in both academia and practice. In the role, you are given the opportunity to influence and develop our education while you, together with engaged colleagues, drive the subject area forward. You will be part of the research environment DHEAR (Digital HEAlth Research), which contributes knowledge on how to make society a good place for everyone. Additionally, you will contribute to strengthening the University's profile by participating in both department-wide and university-wide assignments.

The main tasks within the employment are:

  • Teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels, with a special focus on research methodology, health assessment, and clinical skills training in the KTC (Clinical Skills Center).
  • Supervision and examination of degree projects at undergraduate and advanced levels.
  • Course responsibility and course development at undergraduate and advanced levels.
  • Conduct and participate in research projects as well as collaborate with the surrounding society.

Additional tasks may be included in the employment.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A completed doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are significant with regard to the subject content of the position and the tasks to be included in the employment.
  • Documented pedagogical skill.
  • Documented good collaboration skills.
  • Documented experience of teaching nursing at the university level.

We will also evaluate the following criteria during the hiring process:

Of highest importance are:

  • A specialized advanced nursing degree or equivalent.
  • Documented experience of clinical work as a specialized advanced nurse with a special focus on children and adolescents.

Of next highest importance are:

  • The degree of such skill that is a requirement for eligibility.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits or has a certificate of training in higher education pedagogy equivalent to 15 higher education credits or has acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.

Also of importance are:

  • Documented good administrative skill.
  • Documented scientific skill.
  • Documented good ability for independence in work.
