Description
At Gustaviskolan, we are now looking for a driven and development-oriented senior teacher (förstelärare). The senior teacher assignment is time-limited to 3 years. As a senior teacher, you are employed permanently as a teacher at your school and have a specific fixed-term employment as a senior teacher for 3 years. After the assignment, you will return to your original teaching position.
Gustaviskolan is a small, single-grade F-5 school (grades 1-5) with approximately 150 students. We are Gothenburg's most centrally located municipal school and the only one located within the city moat. We are housed in a stately and beautiful school building with the pedagogues as our closest neighbors. We are currently renovating our school, where we will gain access to new premises and a renovated school environment, including both indoor spaces and the playground. A school that is being invested in!

Responsibilities
In the role of senior teacher, you will primarily be active in teaching. In addition, you will work with school development tasks identified in the school's systematic quality work. The core of the systematic quality work is the students' learning and goal achievement. The work as a senior teacher is therefore primarily focused on developing teaching together with other teachers at the school to increase student learning.
Based on the areas identified in the school's systematic quality work, you work together with the school's teachers and management team. In collegial learning, you have a central and important role by supervising and coaching, as well as by contributing knowledge about research and proven experience.
An important task for the senior teacher is supervising teacher students and mentoring newly graduated teachers, with the aim of contributing to a good introduction to the teaching profession.
A more detailed assignment is formulated in consultation between the senior teacher and the nearest manager at the school. This should include the conditions for and content of the assignment, as well as the time when it should be reviewed and potentially revised.
Qualifications
For the position of senior teacher, we are looking for you who:
- Are a teacher with at least five years of certified teaching experience within the school system.
- Have a good ability to develop teaching by systematically reviewing, improving, and following up on teaching so that it supports and develops students' learning.
- Have a good ability to drive school development in collaboration with the school management based on the school's systematic quality work.
- Contribute knowledge about research and proven experience.
- Have a developed analytical ability.
- Have a good ability to lead others in collegial learning.
- Have achieved merit level 2 within the professional program or plan to do so within 3 years.
To succeed in your assignment, it is important that you have a good ability to create conditions for learning to take place, both among students and colleagues. You have the ability to explain problems and information to different recipients and from different perspectives. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.
You keep yourself updated through environmental scanning and you regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations. You can overview your own area of responsibility and put your own operations' significance in a larger context.
You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and suggest possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information.
