The Swedish Defence University is an internationally leading institution within defence, crisis management and security. We offer a unique academic environment where civilian and military sectors meet. We educate civilian and military leaders, experts and researchers who are to analyse and manage current and future crisis situations and security challenges. The Swedish Defence University educates Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research within law with a focus on operational law and international law, defence systems, military science, leadership and command, military history and political science.

We are now looking for an investigator to support the university's management. This role is ideal for you who want to work closely with the leadership on strategic issues, qualified investigations and the development of the university's operations. The position is located in Stockholm, on the Communications Department, which is part of the institution's operational support.

Responsibilities

As an investigator in management support, you work closely with the university's leadership and contribute to the steering, development and follow-up of operations.

The role involves leading and coordinating development and change work, as well as conducting qualified investigations and analyses in areas of significance for the university's development. You also contribute to the planning and coordination of operational management work together with other management support staff and the University President.

Furthermore, you prepare decision support materials, reports and steering documents, and contribute to environmental scanning within higher education and research. The work also includes coordinating and preparing remiss (consultation) responses, including analysis and preparation of supporting documents, in close collaboration with institutions and administrative functions within the university.

The role involves many contact points within the organization and requires good cooperation skills, integrity and a professional approach.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic degree at least at master's level
  • Experience of working within a university or higher education institution
  • At least three years of experience in qualified investigative and/or case-handling work
  • Experience of leading or coordinating projects
  • Very good ability to express yourself clearly and professionally both orally and in writing in both Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of working with management support or strategic operational development
  • Experience of handling remiss (consultation) responses within a government agency
  • Experience of research activities, for example as a researcher, doctoral student or research administrator
  • Experience of working in the public sector
  • A doctoral degree or ongoing doctoral studies

About the employment

This is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period.

An employment at the Swedish Defence University may involve a security clearance for placement in a security class, which means a register check and in some cases a security interview with the Swedish Security Service.

The employment may involve war-time placement. If you are already war-time placed in your current employment at an agency and your competence is needed in the Swedish Defence University's war organization, a negotiation will take place between the relevant agency and the Swedish Defence University regarding where you should be placed.
